LOVE is the feeling that you feel when you find the things you desire in any living being, dead or even non-living objects.
The basic purpose of LOVE comes from the fact that we want what we desire, either myself or through someone. First of all, we LOVE ourselves. When we find something missing in ourself, we try to find it in others. That doesn't always mean that we start hating ourself. When you find what you want from someone or something, you LOVE him/her or that object. Some LOVE Sachin Tendulkar, and some LOVE painting. It is purely based on the individual character.

Love is not a mere feeling! Get this:
Love is a consistant positive attitude toward life. Read Corithians 13. It can be useful in making you a stronger person and will tell others what you're really about if you're honest. It can teach them a lesson too. The evil doers feel guilty hurting a loving person. Love is not stupid! It doesn't react without reasonig! It's not a mere emotion! It's a principle of life that everyone must have. Life must be loved and taken care of. God's love is saving the world from their evil desires? Isn't that the main purpose? Love humbles the being and God raises it up.

It is a second hand emotion.....
Well okay I don't really think that but the song is stuck in my head now. Love is a part of human nature. For a person to be balanced you must know both Love and Logic. They are not in opposition to one another but must work together.
Someone already answered that it is not a commodity but they are wrong it is the most precious of commodities for the more of it you give the more of it you have.

Love is the highest emotion a human is capable of.
The love God has for His creation is completely beyond our understanding. He has created us in His image, which is love. He has given us the ability to love Him, and to love one another. This is complete fulfillment.
Of course, satan has a counterfeit for this beautiful gift of God, as he has for every gift God gives us. Self-love is very destructive, both to ourselves and to the people around us. Most of the problems of the world stem from active greed. (Greed hides behind many facades, including religion.)
Sex is a very poor substitute for love.
