I just got a really bad reaction to a mosquito bite, it is blistering up. I was wondering what is the best thing to use when this happens. How do I get rid of the blistering and itching? & why did it happen to me?

I know how you feel the same thing happened to me last year my arm was all red and swollen with bites. get a mosquito net (some mosquitos find their way in the house), bug repellant spray and some iching cream from the pharmacy. have you read this article? http://www.drgreene.com/21_36.html

My son and I get that reaction too. the swelling and itching of a mosquito bite are just an allergic reaction, and you could be more allergic than other people, or the mosquito could have been on you for a while. The longer that they are attached the more poison that goes in.
You could try benadryl cream or an antihistimine dermablast is awesome stuff too

Mosquitoes when they bite put a little of their saliva into you to stop the blood from clotting when they are in. That saliva is what you react with that causes the redness and itchiness.
If you are more prone to allergic reactions, then you get larger redness and more itchiness than average. It may be a bite from a different kind of mosquito than you were used to. Certain kinds of mosquito are more prone to give worse reactions than others (Aedes excruciens, Culiseta damnosa, Aedes Trivitatus)

Get some "Sting Kill" or "After Bite" at your local pharmacy and apply it. In the future, if you are out for a run or gardening, pin a Bounce dryer sheet to your clothing not too near your head. It really does help repel mosquitoes.

I start by putting rubbing alcohol on it. This will stop the itching. If it is like you say, are you sure you were bit by a mosquito? Glad its not a sand fly. You don't want to get bit by one of those.

No matter what you do, DON'T RUB IT. I did that to one on my foot, and my foot ended up swelling like a loaf of bread.

I could barely walk to days.

Eventually I learned to stop scratching it and I recovered :)
