FYI - the forbidden fruit was not named. It was never an apple, just some Einstein know it all who said it was. Maybe for poetic reasons (?).
As for taking the forbidden fruit (most likely no longer exists seeing its effects are still manifest, no need for it)..., I believe the sin arrangement was two fold.
(1) Disobedience in taking the fruit. An obvious no-no by anyone's standards.
(2) There was (or could have been) a change in mankind's genetic or biological makeup, shifting his being from immortal to mortal, and then a change to his thinking patterns to allow for the inception of good and evil.
Adam and Eve had a basic working knowledge of good without any evil intent. After eating the fruit the expansion of knowledge of good also included manipulations of good (hence resulting in evil).
The first major sin against man by man occurred as a result of this knowledge of good and evil passed on to Adam and Eve's children was murder. Cain plotted and contrived a plan to kill his brother over petty jealousy and anger. This is something that would never have been dreamed up had Adam and Eve LISTENED.
I take this account as both literal AND as a moral lesson.
NOTE: Keep in mind the account in the book of Genesis as well as most areas in the Bible are compressed time. These changes and events regarding, Adam and Even could have taken days, weeks, months or a few years.

It's generally accepted that it was an apple tree Eve picked from, but no one knows that.
The sin was an act of rebellion, showing that they wanted to follow their own desire, as cultivated and enticed by Satan, and be like God.
Gen 3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
Gen 3:5 for God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as God, knowing good and evil.

I believe the use of the word fruit is symbolic ... the fruit being indicative of the womb and the snake a penis. The "sin" Adam and Eve were guilty of is the act of having sexual intercourse ... and each child is then supposedly born into sin because of the action required of their parents in order to create them.

According to the b ible there is no such thing as original sin. it originated from the teachings of the roman cathjolic church in their doctrine. it was not stated therein that the apple is the forbiden tree which GOD forbids adam to eat but it is ;a tree of knowledge, to know what is right or wrong to do or good or bad to do

This notion that all of the evil that has ever occurred in the entire history of humanity, all the torture and slaughter and persecution and conflict, all the disease and disaster, is due to one person plucking an apple off a tree 6,000 years ago, is such a completely, staggeringly, breath-takingly stupid idea, that anyone who is even tempted to believe it should seek medical help immediately, before they go completely bonkers and start killing people.

The original sin was about choice, Adam and Eve had everything they could ever want, every need was being met, God only told them of one thing they were not to do.
Things are the same today, God will give us all that we need, he will supply our every need. But most of us choose not to take the route God would have us take. Instead we will depend on ourselves, or the government or some idol.
All we have to do is ask Jesus into our heart, call on his name and repent of our sins.
But most of you will say that's to easy, you have to work for it, make your own way, be your own person.
Eve had a choice, so do you. Who will you choose?

No. It was not an apple. When Adam and Eve was cast from the garden Adam was told he would have to toil the soil and Eve would bare children. They found themselves to be naked. They covered themselves with leaves. Does this have to do with a fruit?

I think the apple is a figure of speech. The Sin wasn't about the apple, it was about Eve choosing Satan over God.

To make a long explanation short......
The original sin was far more than the eating of the forbidden fruit. It was about Mankind abandonning God and placing themselves under the power of the Devil..... and when they did this, they gave the power of "Dominion" over into Satan's hands..... which gave him the control over all the earth.
But thanks be to our God in Heaven who always provides a way of escape and we can find it in his son Jesus Christ.... who came back to retrieve that power and took away the keys of death and returned everything to his father in heaven.
I hope this helps a little if anything.
