The way people go about living their lives, its not hard to get employed if you just try, especially in developed countries. But it is understandable in third world countries that unemployment there would be caused by corruption, the government or the way the country is run. Coz in most third world countries the rich stay rich and the poor stay poor. I know coz im from one. But the developed ones usually have things like youth allowance and the dole (unemployment benefits i.e the gov pays you an amount if you are unemployed)

Well, in any society there are going to be a group of people who CAN'T work as well as those who WON'T work. Are you considering stay-at-home moms "unemployed"? Not everyone needs a job.

Causes of unemployment for those who want to work but cannot find it could be due to a number of factors. Their education level may not match with what is required for open jobs. They may not be willing to work at certain jobs. The state of an economy has a significant impact on the job market.

I live in a small town. 40,000. We have a Mayor that makes $160,000 per year plus Health Insurance. Un-employment is caused by lack of education and $5.15 minimum wage jobs with no health Insurance. It is also caused by Corporations that buy jobs and sell them to workers at a profit. The Mayor has never worked a day in his life and never will. He spends most of his time doing things at home which are pass times not work. During working hours. We also have a Human Resource director, Service director and a downtown manager. We also pay a City Council.
They run the City.
Laziness is not the problem, how can a person work 80 hours at two part time jobs paying $5.15 per hour and go to school also? Some States see the problem for what it is, they have passed a higher minimum wage to make up for the Federal lack of action. Washington State is $7.85 / hr. and they did not go out of business because of paying a fair wage, their business got better not worse.

no jobs .
many countries don't develop jobs.
corruption in govts.
no products others want etc.
not enough fundamental education available.
no infrastructure like roads clean water.
there's a whole lot of complex economics involved. they reasons depends on the area or the country....
in the US large cities have more education infrastructure and work available than rural areas. some other countries don't have technology or produce anything anyone else in the world wants for jobs to grow you have to be able to sell the stuff.

Mostly it's laziness, there are some unemployed that want to work, but most think they are too good to do certain jobs, so they don't work at all. If you need a job bad enough, you can find one, even if it's not what you want.

There is a natural level of unemployment, around 4% of the pool of people able to work. Unemployment is caused by a number of things:
1. Laziness/entitlement mentality of people.
2. Failure of people to see their industry is declining locally (like textiles in the US) and start working on there marketable skills.
3. Bad choices by potential employees - not finishing school, drugs, crime, etc.
4. Failure of people to keep learning (must keep your skills current and relevant). It is not society's responsiblility to give you a job, you must earn it!
