Jaguar used to be pretty crapy cars that look good. Now with the technology and Ford motor company taking over their production there has been a steady improvement on them for the best. The reason they always rate low on been recomended is that truthfully people who test drive them are Old and all they know is how crapy foreign cars used to be and how good they are now, already been bias towards Luxury domestic vehicles. Would a yound guy drive a Jag of course if they could afford it. The people that do get to drive them I dont think they complain at all, the ones that own them I mean. If you like the car buy it, take it for a test drive and check out all the positives of it. Dont let megazines or people that only get to drive them once tell you a whole history about everysingle model without actually owning one. One thing is for sure that if you are getting into an expensive vehicle keep in mind that maintenance is also expensive. Good luck and I hope you buy what you like......

Jaguar, in general, has been suffering from poor quality since Ford Motor Co. bought them out. You will want to check if your Jag model has a steel frame or a new aluminum frame -- as most body shops are not trained to fix aluminum frame cars yet. I do know that Jag trains its body shop for the aluminum frame, but if you needed to take it to a non-Jag body shop, that could cause problems. According to the 2006 Consumer Reports buying guide, the Jag X series was not recommended for 02 and 03, and just ranked as 'average' in 04. Good luck.
