Love is friendship and so you are very lucky to go out with a friend. you guys were friends so it should not be difficult for you to talk. depending on the nature of the question you can tell him that you have no intention of hurting him or interfering in his personal space before asking him the question. don't ask him the question on a date or it could spoil the atmosphere. remember that every person has his personal life which he may not like you interfering in. also share something about yourself and this will help him open up. give him some time and space and everything will be alright.
hope your problem is solved. All the best.

You're too hung up on the whole dating scene. Just because you are going out doesn't mean you have to put on an act. People who are afraid of saying something stupid end up not saying anything at all. Take a risk and talk to him like you used to. Otherwise you'll end up losing that part of the relationship which attracted you together in the first place.

First, you have stop worrying about what you are going to say because your boyfriend would not be dating you if he thought you were "stupid". So- that's an unnecessary worry on your part.
Second, just relax, be yourself, and ask him whatever you'd like.
In no time you will be talking up a storm...

U cant have your cake and eat it too,, their are unseen rules u dont see.
