I had an overachiever and I found if I promised him we would take him to look through a telescope, or something else I knew he would love, if he would do his studies and have a perfect attendance. The bribery worked for us. Talk with your child and see if there are any of his wishes you could fulfill if he could buckle down at school. Don't make the treats too far apart, it is much easier if you can make these treats at least every two weeks. Check with his teachers and if warranted, make an exception to once a week.

I don't think there is much you can do to help , these things are all normal complaints about school. Just be as positive and as possible. Some kids I have taught hated every second they were at school and that made theirs' and mine's life a misery, be grateful that it is just "sometimes"
I hated a lot of stuff about school but now I'm a teacher because there was enough there that worked for me. There were subjects I didn't like purely because I didn't like the teacher, and subjects I loved despite the teacher.
I would definitely have been voted "least likely to become a teacher"
