I've just been on to my IM site, and although I do use it an awful lot, there are about 20 people who are trying to contact me..... these same people have never answered a question that I have posed and appear to have no profile information... do they honestly think I'm just going to add them and start chatting to them?

My profile clearly states that I'm not looking!

Well that's because you are blocking me on your legitimate IM site, screening your calls and generally and quite obviously going to great lengths to avoid me despite me telling you that I'm sorry for butting my nose in where it wasn't welcome.

It all depends what your wants are when you are in Yahoo. I tend to use it to keep in touch with a couple of friends (whom I know in person), and sometimes communicate with a person whom I do some translations for - I also know him in person. So I generally don't feel inclined to look for, or even answer to, strangers.

But there are a lot of people online who are just looking for a chat, or a date, or a lay, and so they look up random people and try their luck.

Also, I use a second profile for Yahoo! Answers, so people who see my answers can only contact me through the Yahoo! Answers "contact... " option - they don't see my e-mail or anything, and I reply to the few whom I decide to answer using the same option. I do keep my privacy. People cannot e-mail me directly, or IM me... just like having a post office box.

Just as I was reading your question, I got an IM from some random dude. Made me laugh. Yes, they honestly think you'll add them. Boys are dumb. And desperate.

Some people think they may have something in common with you i guess. they are sad, desperate, lonely and needy people who need to get out of the house!

it is more easier and takes less guts to ask a girl for sex on chat also many peverts like me are just looking for cybersex because real sex is too messy or just impossible in this fast paced life and you might as well have satisfying virtual relationships than unfulfilling real ones.. it might also have to do with proving your manhood to your self by having cybersex with as many fems as you can (though i dont subscribe to that thinking)

and then there are male cam whores like me who just cant get enough

I'd contemplate changing from dirty minx too something a little less suggestive. try sweet & chaste that should solve the problem
