I believe that the garden of Eden story explaining the origin of sin is really about evolution. Animals cannot commit sin because they cannot allow their intellect to over ride their instincts. A cougar does not commit sin when it kills a deer or even kills her own cubs, she is merely following an instinctive behaviour pattern that has been determined by evolution. As our human and pre-human ancestors became more intelligent and sophisticated they developed the ability to ignore instinctive behaviour and make decisions based on logic. At this point any form of behaviour became possible and humans had the capacity to choose right or wrong. This is what I believe the 'fruit of knowledge' means. One thing I don't know is why did women cop the blame? (as in Eve). Was this because females contributed more to the development of human intelligence?

No, although I believe "Sin" is just a negetive energy/action like hate or violence which in turn creates more of the same which is why is the term "Sin" was invented by ancient religions as a form to control their people and keep order such as governments and laws of today are made to do the same.
Although I do not beleive in such things as organized religon I would say "Sin" would be anything that causes harm to another such as killing, rape, stealing, etc...

I believe sin does exist, if one means "an action done that is ethically wrong."
For instance, if I were to drive down people with my car, that would be a sin, in my humble opinion.
Of course, the context of the action also comes into play. Normally, tackling a four year old to the ground would be a bad thing to do. (However, say you're tackling him out of the way of a vehicle coming right at him..)

Sin exists. It is not believing in God who is Jesus who purchased you with His Blood. Sin is disobedience to God's Holy law of the broken Old Covenant and the broken New Covenant.

Actually opposite of good deed is sin so when good deed exist then its contrary also exist.
Same like example of darkness, what is darkness? Nothing but absence of light. Same logic for sin as well.

If you can define the opposite of sin then yes it must exist. Everything that exists has an opposite.

Sin is breaking God's Commandments. We are all sinners but through Jesus actions at Calvary, we can ask for forgiveness and if we are truly sorry, we are forgiven. Because of sin in the world, there is disease, crime, wars, etc.....)(

Sin is a silly concept that was invented to keep people in line and control people. It doesn't exist outside of fairy tales.

SIN is the breaking of God given rules.
This means that if you do not believe in God, you cannot sin.
However you can act against man made rules and then it is called Misdemeanor, Tort, Crime, etc.
