Hi, at my school I will be unable to do gcse IT, however, a local place does a evening class for it, do you know how old you have to be to go to a class?

this depends on the area you live in. some places accept people under 16 if they attend with an adult. most classes though are for 16+. why not ask your school to write a letter to the evening class recommending you for a place on the course - stating that you would be a commited student. my son had a similar nproblem with geography GCSE. the school did it but it wouldn't fit into his timetable: however, they gave him the books and course work and he studied it in his own time, making use of the computers in the school library. the teachers marked his coursework and put him in for the exams.
good luck

My son did an IT course at college when he was ten, it was a Saturday morning one. He had to provide a letter from his Headmaster at school and one from parents saying that he could do it (they wanted to make sure that the 'Head' was aware of what he was doing and that it wouldn't affect his homework). When he actually went into the class, an adult had to be with him, because the college did not take responsibility for his safety in the event of an emergency. So I sat near him, but not help him, he asked the lecturer if he had a problem. He passed 3 courses in a year and three months.
Talk to the college and ask what their arrangements are.

You can be any age.

One of the girls I went to college - 16 to 18 - with had already done a year of one of the subjects we did, she was 15 when she attended the evening class, so she was able to do the immediate level while everyone else was doing the beginners.

Check with the college first though.

I would assume it would be 16 as most higher education places take people on after their GCSE's at 16.

I imagine everywhere is a bit different, so give the course a call and see what they say. I hope they say yes as it is really great that you want to do this extra course outside of school - well done you!

Good luck!

Most have no age restrictions as such, just guidelines. You may have to convince the course leader that it will not interfere with your gcse's at school.

Good luck

I suppose any one can join evening classes in the normal course without any restrictions on age. Better check it out with the specific institute you want to join.
