We are witnessing that the religion(s) causing main source of global unrest, hatred and intolerence towards others and resulting voilence around the world. So, can we get rid of religion and live togather with peace and harmony as a global community and can we live without a particular religion. The second part of my question is regarding moralities. The religious moralities often deal with one's personal life e.g bedroom affairs. Can we re-define moralities and focus on our conduct toward others rather then personal life style(s). I'm not against religion as for as it deals with one's personal satisfaction but they should't be follow as a philosophy to deal with rest of the world. I.'' be thankful for any input in this regard.

Yes, we can live without religion. Morality, that's simple, just don't do anything to harm another person in any way. I don't need religion to determine how I treat a person

The moralities have been previously defined by the "Golden Rule." The Global unrest is caused be Humans ignoring the Golden Rule.

What you are proposing as a solution is the same as prophets have proposed. In essence your solution will be a new religion based on the oldest of religion, which will probably suffer from the same corruptions as the relgions past.

One of the corruptions is that everyone is not ready. Or the same reason that Cain lived after he killed his brother. It i.s because he wasn't Able. Some people are not ready, the maturity is not present

Ignoring the obvious is silly.
Religions pretend they can explain morality but cannot even begin to explain moral behavior.
eg. The 10 commandments endorse slavery and fail to prohibit rape!

Our evolution can and does show the evolution of morality. We use insects as standards of moral behavior. Group living animals develop morality, it is a function of group dynamics.

Morals are an equation where our selfish interests are compared with our duty and responsibility to the group we live in and are part of and need for our survival. We are reluctant to do things to harm the group, and as a group, we punish those who do “wrong,” with wrongs being anything that is counterproductive to group survival.

Our group standards do change, and our moral code incorporates these standards into the equation when we make our choices on behavior.
Tossing religion is a good first step to finding our true moral code.

reiligion built on truth can help one stay organized and focused (towards goals), but to remain true, it must be re-examined frequently. Hopefully, ones strives to make ones religion morally "perfect."

morality is EXACTLY how things add up from point A to point Z and requires nothing from religion.

As I see it morality is what fuels religion. The higher quality the morality, the higher quality the religion.

Religion, of whatever moral quality, empowers us, as human beings, far more than we know. Imagine if it were all morally perfect and the goal was the same for everyone!

Morals in a religion remain the same.....morals without religion are whatever is popular for the decade. 50 yrs ago gay marriages werent cool. Cussing on tv was unheard of, guns in school didnt happen, adultry and divorce was not so common,,,,,,wow what a decline in society since the bible was taken out of school, Crime went up 400%........what does the future hold? Well in Sodom and gomorah the men had raped men in public. Dont tell me that isnt the fate of our future.
Jude 1:7 - In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire.

I'm going to be an optimist and say that we don't need to get rid of religion to create a better world. Even tho I'm a Humanist (I don't believe in a god) I think that many people benefit from their belief and who am I to deny that?
The conflicts that are happening today are between relgions but underneath, it's a different story.
Israel/Lebanon isn't Jews vs Muslims, it's America (who arms Israel) vs Iran (who arms the Muslim countries). The USA gives millions of $$ a day in aid to Israel.
If you want to stop the fighting in the world you have to refocus your energies. Instead of paying £££ or $$$ on arms, provide education, healthcare, aid to developing countries. Give people less reason to fight - inequality creates dissent.

Ignoring the plain and attempting to faux that only religions can clarify morality while religions can not even start to describe ethical habit is stupid. Our evolution can and does instruct the evolution of morality. We use bugs as standards of ethical habit. team residing animals strengthen morality, that's a function of team dynamics. Morals are an equation the place our selfish hobbies are in comparison with our duty and duty to the gang we live in and are area of and choose for our survival. we are reluctant to do issues to harm the gang, and as a team, we punish people who do “incorrect,” with wrongs being something it particularly is counterproductive to team survival. Our team standards do substitute, and our ethical code is composed of those standards into the equation as quickly as we make our possibilities on habit.

absolutely and at the same time, not really.

religion still serves one main purpose which is why it was invented - it helps answer questions science can not solve. you have remember in ancient times, they created gods to explain seasons, the sun and moon, and so on. worship came about because people wanted something better like a harvest, children, weddings, and so on. it's these "comforts" that people can't really live without.

but the problem is that you identify religion as the reason for the conflicts around the world. religion is far from the issue at stake here. it's about greed. it's always been about greed. those that are greedy use religion for their own purposes. religion is simply pawn in this global chess game.

so you have to ask yourself, what is there to be greedy about? simple answer. it's been the same answer for centuries. RESOURCES. it's the reason columbus ended up in the Americas. he wasn't looking for it, he was trying to find a better trade route and bumped into the Americas. it's the reason you can find people of european descent in all corners of the world. it's about access to resources. they want what someone else has and they're willing to do anything.. ANYTHING.. to get it.

so we hear constantly, this war is about oil. that's partially the reason for these wars. but, there is a resource many people sort of overlook and that's military position.

islamic countries are basically the final frontier. there is no true friendly nation in the middle east for american and european countries to operate from. so they sought to set up israel which would act as that base for american/european operations. look at our history and moves the govts make. they seek to topple one leader to place their own leader in there so they can have access to the area. i've even read a news story where amidst all this unrest, the US has found some way to try to build a military base in Iraq the size of the vatican or even larger. i would bet you that once that base is built, support for israel will start to go down the hole.

anyway, in the middle east, they say its about religion. but there's also unrest in south america. that has nothing to do with religion at all. these countries are forcibly removing foreign, mostly american and european nationals, from their resources. in africa, it's the same thing. many nations are forcibly removing foreign nationals from their countries and taking back control of the resources that they lost in.. what?.. WAR! it hasn't a thing to do with religion. it has to do with access to resources and military positioning.

same thing has to do with china except china is waaaay too big of bite for american and european mouths to chew on. we're talking about a billion plus people and if the US wanted a war with china, they'd lose in probably a few months tops. just too many people. even if the entire population of the US was drafted, we would still lose. oh and they've got nukes too. but they got south korea and japan. so they have their access to the area.

anyway, i could go on for days about the reasons for the problems in the world today. but at the end of it, it's all about greed and religion isn't as great a cause as people think. it's chess game. you just have to identify your pieces and look at what history can teach you.

The only input I can give, is that you ask phenomenal questions, that will unfortunately never be addressed in the "real world"

If only we could find our own planet and move people like you and me there, the world could be a more peaceful place.

We can absolutely live without "religious" practices. However, we could not and should not live without or be unfaithful to our faith. We have the indwelling of a spirit, which makes us spiritual beings. Didn't you ever watch Star Trek? Everything about humans is totally illogical. Without our spirituality and our faith, we would be------Spock!
