Esperanto is the easiest if you are from a European background. This is an artificial language that is specially designed to be easy to learn. It has no irregular verbs and everything is pronounced the way it is spelt.

Spanish is not any less complicated than French. Most of those who say Spanish is less complicated certainly have not stepped forward past the intermediate stage, because the grammar will get harder as you cross. Spanish has extra verb tenses and moods, however to be reasonable, French does have extra irregulars. Also, Spanish drops pronouns even as French does not, which feels very bizarre for an English speaker. So grammatically, one is not certainly tougher than the opposite. French is definitely, extra tricky to learn, write, and spell because of Spanish having an excessively phonetic, easy writing procedure. But studying and writing is simplest an obstacle on the establishing intermediate stages. Once the fundamentals are down, Spanish will get tougher and tougher. As for Chinese, it has no relation with English whatever, so you are going to be beginning with a clean slate. Also, the writing procedure is practically hieroglyphic, with one other image for each and every phrase. Very, very tricky. Any Asian language goes to be tougher than an Indo-European language.

I'm assuming that you only know English. For English speakers, they generally find Spanish the easiest to learn, mainly because the sound system is quite easy to master and there is so much Spanish in the environment, especially in the Western United States. Unfortunately, most Spanish courses teach Castilian Spanish (from Spain) which is not quite so easy to learn as Latin American Spanish. If you can, find a Latin American Spanish course and skip the Castilian. BTW, I'm not a Spanish speaker and have never bothered to learn it. I have learned three Native American languages--Shoshoni, Comanche, and Timbisha--, Greek, Hebrew, Latin, Hungarian, German, and am working on Polish.

Deffinitely English! It's is by far the most spoken international language and the media is flooded with it, you learn it whether you like it or not. Plus, it has very easy grammar and thier literature is (thanks to the language) widely spread.
Learning a language also depends on the ethnic groups in your country. In Romania for example, in the region where I live, there are a lot of Hungarians and Germans, so Romanians sometimes learn these languages either out of curiosity or pragmatism. Note that Romanian, German and Hungarian are not related to each other.

It depends on you as the individual. I personally find Indonesian the easiest language to learn after studying French and German as well (partly due to the lack of tenses). But other people find the European languages easier.

My guess would be Latin (a guess because I don't speak it). I know more people swear at it than swear by it but the difficult languages are IMO the ones with the most slang and exceptions to the rules of grammar and word variations. I think Latin would be purer since it is an early language.

Other answers should be interesting.

For me, it's English. I suppose Spanish is also easy to learn. I don't know about Esperanto.

@ darkmoon_reddawn_folkdomination: You are wrong about the serbocroatian (serbian) language. It has not just only one present, one past and one future tense. For example, there are 2 perfect tenses: perfect and plusquamperfect. I know that because it's my native language. It's also not so easy to learn.

Don't believe the girl who said that the serbocroatian language is easy. It's my mother tongue, and I can say that it is very hard to study, especially for foreigners. It's grammar is VERY hard. But it is beautifull... In my opinion English is the easiest one.
