I have two German Shepherds, one male and one female. They are not easy to train and require constant work. I also have a female husky. She is the oldest, but she can be taught a trick in a matter of minutes. The difference, once the husky knows the trick she may or may not do the trick on command, once the GS knows the trick he or she will do the trick every time. If you want a very loving loyal dog, get a GS - keep in mind not all of them are good watch dogs. My male is the biggest wimp around and new things scare him, the female is more assertive, but not by much. GS also suffer a great deal from separation anxiety, and remain puppy like for 3 years or so. My male is a little over 4, and it's only been a little over a year that I leave him out when I go to work. Before that he would find a book, a shoe, the cushion from the couch and eat it while I was gone.

Both are beautiful dogs.

Which bulldog? there are several. I have the british bulldog, and he is beautiful, intelligent, handsome, very loving, and leaves a German Shepherd in the shadows, but then I'm a bit biased.....

Then there is also the American bulldog, (NOT the pitbull)
the french bulldog and so on..............

AND!!! YES!!!!! to "dog lover" there is DEFINITELY no more beautiful faced dog than the bulldog.......
