Seriously, this isnt a "relgions suck" thread, more of actual genuine worry that religions and their followers are screwing the world up for the rest of us. No better example than the current middle east crisis. You have muslims who believe they will go to some crazy heaven through matyrdom and killing innocent people. You have crazy Israelis thinking its a god given right to own the holy lands and battle of the evil hords etc. Even the Christians think that they have the backing of God in all their actions. Tony Bliar said that "God will be the ultimate judge of the offensive in Iraq", isn't that just a stupid cop out to deny responsibility. It really upsets me that all these different people are so brainwashed that they fight and murder and follow blindly just for some pointless man made religion that promises them an afterlife, without which they cannot comprehend death. yet these people are making the wolrd a living hell for the rest of us, yet we are not allowed to speak out?

Hey there,

People in history have killed in the name of God and this so called "God" will pass judgement..

I will never bow down to such a god.

People in christianity say that their god is merciful and loving, kind and giving and still they say that people kill in the name of God.

This is a HUGE contradiction.

People that simply live by the word and live their lives to encourage others and make life better, those are the people that I take my hate off to. Many people take their belief to such a level that they are more perfect than others. This is a load of codswallop. People that think they are better and more spiritual than the rest are so far from the path that they can be nothing without their status.

My lifes philosophy is : when one has gone so far to say that they are on the right path, stop for a while and check to see if you are not going the opposite way.

people kill for the need to kill and for power, but how does one test a man.... you give him power and see what he does with it.

Now for your question, The war is but a lame example of power hungry government. Take away their staus, then they are just humans killing other humans....

This I call murder, there is no higher or lower person... We are all equals...

Kind Regards

Yes, I get upset at all this ****, same as you. Out of all the reasons to kill and maim people, and to destroy their property, the two silliest are religion and nationalism, in that order. There isn't much difference between Judaism, Christianity, Islam and Mormonism, but they all find reasons to kill each other which I can't understand. If they'd all forgotten this religious **** long ago and stopped the destruction, the Middle East would be a paradise with a high standard of living. Religion is a psychiatric illness, like depression and schizophrenia, and it kills more people. You've only got one shot at life. Don't sacrifice it for Jesus or 144 virgins or any of those other imaginary after-death rewards. religious martyrs are all victims of a very cruel confidence trick. Moses, Jesus, Mohammed, Joseph Smith and the rest of them were the worst humans who ever lived.

I agreed with your that the World religious practise has gone wrong. It is not the teaching of the holy scripture that is wrong but human misinterpreted it. It is very sad doing all the evil deeds and blame the order come from God.
The religious leader are not doing anything to stop this sad events or help their followers and guide them the correct path. I wonder whether these religious leader knows their own mistake or should given such a title.

As long as every human knows deep inside them what is right and wrong is good enough. No need to have books or people to instructed you what one should do.

Good point - and as a Humanist I do feel that, as a people, we do tend to overlook our responsibilities in the hope that a god will take responsibility or that a devil will take the blame instead. We should be doing things *now* to make *this* life a better one, not to ensure that the afterlife is comfortable.

As for Tony, he had to say that God would be the ultimate judge of the Iraq offensive to make himself feel better - the voters will judge him at the next general election (I hope), and he knows his image as Dubya's poodle has done him a lot of harm. Will that make him act responsibly? Probably not......

i understand your point--- but i would say look at the former soviet union... they were a totally non religious atheistic society for over 50 years...look what happened...
its true ppl like to believe that God is on their side and we are always in the right.. Im sure it must sadden Him that we cant even try to get along and understand one another--- i propose sir, that if we did not have a God...we would make one up... most of us need some belief that there is more than this--- you didnt say where you are from-- but here in America you can speak out all you want---- but I wouldnt go to Iran and speak out if I were you

Religion, or the interpretation of it, does seem to be causing the majority of our problems in the world. One reason that the Balkans didn't have more religious strife under Soviet rule is that they took a heavy handed approach to the subject. Depending on you religious beliefs, the nations of the world will eventually turn and destroy all religions.

Then go live in an athiest country. Isreal became a nation in 1948, religion or not, its theirs. All our forefathers of the US believed in God and now athiests want to whine. The words God or Jesus offend them and they just want the world to be like them to with no hope and more bitter than lemons.

Wow...its like....its like...you read my mind. People don't realize the similarities in the beliefs and are scared to be shown as being weak. IF THESE ******KERS, would put more energy in helping out, this would be the greatest planet. Instead we let this "god" if you will, forgive us our sins and trespasses and we are so worried about this j-day, that we forget we all poop the same. People cant take blame, it shows weakness. Ignorance my new, best friend...is the greatest evil of all.

Well, you would have to actually read the Bible to figure out what Tony meant. If you did, you would realize that all these things have been prophesied, nothing he or anyone else does can change it. And history just keeps proving the Bible correct. Go read it, you'll see that I'm correct.
