Seems as if trying to get a man who is not making his point very clear or metaphor will be like "trying to get a camel through the eye of a needle," - I won't even try! Thanks for the 2 points! What is .... "what the hell was Moses on about."
Jesus Christ spoke the first parable to a young rich man that wanted know what he needed to do to enter the 'Kingdom of Heaven." Moses is in the Old Testament! Thanks for the 2 points! You hang in there now - practice make perfect - you may get that camel through the eye of the needle yet!

What has Moses got to do with a camel going through the eye of a needle? The expression was used in 'relative degree'. You will answer the question when you read the relevant portion from the Bible. I hope you know where it is. If you do not, post another question.

The "Eye of the Needle" was in fact a gateway. Granted it was shorter than the camel and they had to make him bend down to get him through it. Coupled with a camels personality, I'm sure it was very hard. However it WAS done. Who ever said it was just saying that it was hard, not impossible. (I don't recall Moses talking about it, but .....)

The third letter of Hebrew is "gimel" .. roughly correlating to the "g" in our language .. Yet "gimel" the word for this letter translates as "camel"..
In Hasidic .. and Gentile Qabalistic traditions of "Otz Chioth" .."Tree of Life" ...
Gimel is the "path" between "Malkuth" kingdom.. the sephirotic sphere at the feet .. to "yesod" the foundation .. the sephirotic vessel at the loins .. more lunar and representative of fertility ...

"Moses on about"? .. The quote regarding a camel going through the eye of a needle .. Is a response Jesus purportedly gave someone who asked ... "How may it be possible for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven" .. and he added " all things are possible"

Their style of metaphorical thinking was rather different then...

In any case, I've heard it said that 'camel' may have been a mistranslation and that the original texts may have said 'rope' (a similar word with a similar spelling in the original language).

Rope through needle makes rather more sense metaphorically, doesn't it?

But I like the camel idea. It's dadaistic - something you don't see much in the Bible!

Oh ppl! That's an easy one...

Hold needle up close, and look through the eye of the needle. Ta'da! Camel through eye of needle.

Change perspective and your problem is solved.

The eye of a needle may be a small gate. It's call the Needle's Eye and it's in Jerusalem. My Jewish tour guide told me when we pass by one of the houses in the Via Dolorosa. (The path in Jerusalem, Jesus took, when He is carrying His cross to be cruxified)

Anyway, the meaning of that verse is Jesus is the way and the only way.

Moses? Why don't you ask Moses in heaven?

Where did Moses come in between you and the eye of the needle? I understand it as "hyperbole", a literary style of using exaggeration to state the impossible nature of the proposition.

You don't really read the Bible, do you?

What does Moses have to do with the story? This from the New Testament when Jesus is using it to make a point of how difficult it is for a wealthy person in love with their money to make it to Heaven. Love of money, or anything for that matter, above God is Idol worship.
