I work from 5pm until 3:30am and have a 9 week old male silky terrier. My sister stops by on her way home from work around 7pm to feed him and take him outside to potty. She can only stay for maybe and hour. What can be done after she leaves to help with his training until I arrive home. I read that the potty pads can be confusing to him so I am a little hesitant about using them.

Try to do it when you are home. Take him out very often, like 6 times. In time reduce this to 3. He will eventually end up by learning not to poo when you are not around. Until he learns, put a basket with papers in it in a corner where he can poo. A few months later remove the basket, he will wait until you show.
But be patient, even in 'normal' conditions it's quite hard to train them.

I could take the paper out - you do not know until you check out do you? Make definite his blalnket then covers the entire of the ground. At 15 weeks he must be competent to final all night time, however a few dogs are extra complicated than others. He'll often nonetheless have the atypical coincidence, however he will get there beautiful quickly.

crate train your puppy
it is security for them
they don't like to pee where they sleep
Treat him as if he were a 130 pound dog, not a cute little plush toy,
my toy poodle has become a well mannered, non-yappy adult as a result & my girlfriend who has his mother is terribly yappy and annoying. Remember they learn what you teach them.

Never yell, smack or stress them out, they will think only of your negative behavior and be afraid. They don't understand English. They learn one word commands.
Try this, be happy, excited to see them and they will run up to you tail wagging and full of fun. Yell and they will cower. I can get my guy to do anything, my husband can't get him to do a thing. It is all in the presentation.

Confinement in a certain area.
Crate training
Give him to a family who is able to care for him 100% of the time!
