Oh - lucky you - I love the rowing machine as it feels like it works everything as well as being a good cardio-vascular work out. I am no fitness trainer, but I would say if you feel very unfit then set it to a medium to low setting and go for five mins or so, if that doesn't get your heart pumping then do a bit longer. Once you find a time that gets you nicely sweaty and out of breath keep that up for a while and as soon as it begins to feel easier then up the time or the difficulty rating so that you are pushing yourself again - just keep going up in steps.

Enjoy!

Take it very slowly ,rowing machines really take it out of you.

The first 2 weeks just do 5mins a day, the following 2 weeks 10 mins a day.

After that 20 mins 3/4 times a week, or as long as it doesn't feel to uncomfortable.

you lucky thing!
i started at the gym 7 weeks ago and i'd never really done any exercise beforehand. I started by rowing 500m and seein how long it took me, then the next time i tried to beat my time, even if i was only a second under. I've been tryin to beat my time every day for 7 weeks and unlike before where i was roqing 500m/1 min break/ rowing 500m, i'm now rowing 1000m all in one go which i never thort i'd do. You;ll feel yourself improving.
Well done you on giving it a go, i hope you get on well and once u start seeing results it'll really give u a boost! xxx

You must maintain a constant exercise for a period of two minutes in order to constitute an aerobic exercise, anything less is pointless...
This is a good parameter to begin with...

Ok no more than 10 mins to start off with or you will get aches etc.
Take it easy and don't over do it.
