It seems that the police now spend more time filling in reams of paperwork, being given massive caseloads and worrying about some scrote's human rights than actually being allowed to to do their jobs.

Agree or disagree?

Totally agree.

Please god let me arrest someone who deserves it, and who the CPS will not say, "I know you caught him with the bloody dripping axe in one hand and the little girls dripping head in the other, and you heard her scream just before you ran into the room, and there isn't another person in a thousand miles, but its not on CCTV and he didn't admit it. Sorry, but we dont think there's enough evidence to mount a successful prosecution. Please let him go. Oh and on the way out pay him £1000 per hour he has been inconvenienced and make sure you apologise"

You wouldn't believe how frustrated.

as an ex-police officer and keen union member, l do no longer think of the police would desire to probability public risk-free practices by miraculous. They comprehend they do no longer look to be allowed to strike while they connect the stress - and that's for obtrusive motives - in the event that they do no longer agree then they might desire to no longer connect. The police are in a diverse place with unique time-honored jobs - the main considered necessary one is to guard and serve the well-known public. each and every so often, interior the gung-ho attitude of at present, some officers overlook this. common the pay isn't that undesirable, however like definitely everyone else, they are able to continuously do with greater and l do no longer blame them for being miffed, yet with my union hat on - strikes are an absolute final hotel - miraculous is a failure, reflecting on the two factors in uncomplicated occupations and out of the question for any precise questioning police officer putting his/her accountability till now his/her pocket. possibly that's a solid attempt for each individual officer - think of approximately it - what's the greater substantial to you? Public or Pocket? If the latter - are you interior the suitable suited activity?

Totally agree. They must be fed up with all the paperwork. They also know who the criminals are but many times can't do anything because of human rights and technicalities. When they do get to arrest someone the CPS may drop the case and if it does get to court they see the criminal out on the streets in months if not sooner.

yes and no,
the police do not help themselves by alienating themselves from the community. only going to their own clubs, only talking to other police. their view on the world is the same as those who only read one paper/watch one tv channel for their news, ie narrow
(and that goes for all communitys)
i have, in the past been harrased, arrested and searched on numerous occasions for the crime of walking down the road. Now i'm older i see large groups of 'shock police' in town on the weekends, specifically to break up 'violent outbreaks' (which are invariably aggrivated by beligerant doorstaff)

these police seem to think it takes seven people to undertake a traffic stop. (but only late at night, when i assume they are all on overtime)
on one occasion i saw a diminutive police woman single handedly diffuse a slanging match only to have the doorstaff repeatedly carry it on until the customers were arrested.

i have been assaulted and knocked out by a doorman because the person in front of me in the queue kicked off and i was a smaller target, when the police arrived i was threatened with arrest.
so the police, as in all walks of life, have a varied mix of fools and good eggs. but in a world where your average copper can get away with doing 150mph because he feels like it is it any wonder that the public feel there is an abuse of that trust.

the police are in a position of power and that requires scutiny, if you do wrong, as a member of the policeforce you should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law, thats the trade off.

i agree so many people on here complain about the police in the UK but just think for a moment what the police are like in a lot of other country's in some country's you can get beaten just for looking at a police man the wrong way so we are lucky we have the police we have. and some people out there should think about that before complaining all the time

You're assuming that the police want to help the public and solve crime - they don't. Much easier for them to stay at the plod shop and do paperwork or sit around checking car speeds (no risk to themselves). For the first time in my area I saw two of them riding mountain bikes. I laughed my *** off, so obvious they just wanted to get a good tan, as soon as the temp dips below 25 degrees they'll be back prowling the streets in cars hassling innocents.

the police are to blame for the state of the uk,they are there to administer the law,not make up there own minds is it worth it to prosecute,if you are driving down the road a pulled over for a lights that is out,you should under the law and the highway code you should have it replaced before you move the car/ect,if the police let you go and say get it fixed, and you kill someone the insurance would fail to payout, your car is not road worthy

I agree and have seen reports in the press that this is also the view of the police as well. They are being tied by laws that they are also finding difficult to carry out

Well said,

After being related to 5 police members (I cant get away with anything) :(

I know they are fed up with three things.

1) Abuse - they are only trying to do their job.
2) Paperwork
3) Pathetic human rights for people who have done very bad things.

From what they say the "fear" groups goths, moshers, homeless people etc are not usually a problem.

totally agree....
good old fashioned police men/women no longer exist, they cannot control crime as most of it is hidden from them, they need the beat copper back more than ever. Unfortunately the CPS doesn't want to prosecute every criminal caught, so with all the red tape and politics going on i would think its terribly frustrating for a copper nowadays to do his job effectively.
