I'm 61 now and took a car trip across country last year. I don't remember that it was any worse than the trips I took when I was a kid except for the fact that I didn't have bratty brothers and sisters hitting me. (Ahh, the good old days.)
I think the only difference would be if the person had special requirements of some kind like a wheelchair or oxygen. Then you would to make room for that. Special arrangements at hotels, etc.

Not really sure I understand what you are requiring, but I will what I think anyway. I do alot of car travel to my elderly parents place over 2000k away, and I have found that there is not enough wayside (toilet) facilties along the roads, especially freeways, you always end up having to go into towns, which unless you have a town map, looking for amenties can be quite a pain as they are not clearly marked, and you end up getting court up in all the traffic unsure of where you are going, having the normal town folk getting annoyed because your driving too slow whilst your looking for signs. Also Road Directories should have all country towns showing all roads and amenities clearly. This would save alot of frustration of behalf of everyone. Good Luck with your work
