Strictly speaking no, although you can obviously get a job doing the same thing. The term "au pair" has a specific meaning from tax and immigration perspectives and can only apply to foreign people.

An "au pair" is not a specific job title so if you want to be a "help" for someone in the UK you simply need to find a family that will want you for that purpose although you shouldn't put yourself down as nanny unless you have the right qualifications.

Interesting question. I suppose you have to consider what an au pair is and why people traditionally employ them from abroad rather than taking on domestic assistants and live-in child minders from the UK. It could be something to do with the cost, and that means you do not get paid very much, but I am really only guessing.

hi you would be called a nannie not an au pair ok as au pair is foreign and you said you were british good luck
