My siberian husky doesn't howl, he barks, which is pretty weird because i heard from a lot of people that huskies howl instead of bark. Can i teach him to howl, and then maybe to speak?

because it seems like a lot of people have misunderstood what i meant by 'speaking', it's just like what some of the answers have stated, i didn't mean 'speak' as in how humans speak. i meant making a sound that sounds like he's speaking. i've seen lots of videos of dogs who can say, or should i say sounds like, saying 'i love u'.

I've got a Siberian Husky too. I read just yesterday that they don't bark, but mine does too but only playfully... he howls alot when he wants out of his cage. The best thing to do is take him somewhere to meet other Siberian Huskys because they enjoy howling together, then maybe your Husky will join in. I hope that helps.
Oh and people, dogs can speak. She doesn't mean like human speak. My dog speak, it's a mix of barks and howls and it's like he's talking to you in dog language. My Bailey does it ALL the time, when he wants you to take him for a walk, or play with his ball with him, etc.

You'll be very lucky to teach your dog to speak, it's actually quite hard. I try the tricks and training books. And all dogs can howl. Just not instead of barking. All huskies bark, howling is a way of long-distance communicating.

Don't know about huskys but have you heard about this lab'?
A guy is driving around and he sees a sign in front of a house:
"Talking Dog For Sale."
He rings the bell, and the owner tells him the dog is in the backyard.
The guy goes into the backyard and sees a Labrador retriever sitting there.
"You talk?" he asks.
"Yep," the lab replies.
"So, what's your story?"
The lab looks up and says, "Well, I discovered that I could talk when I was pretty young. I wanted to help the government, so I told the CIA about my gift, and in no time at all they had me jetting from country to country, sitting in rooms with spies and world leaders, because no one figured a dog would be eavesdropping. I was one of their most valuable spies for eight years running.
"But the jetting around really tired me out, and I knew I wasn't
getting any younger, so I wanted to settle down. I signed up for a job at the airport to do some undercover security work, mostly wandering near suspicious characters and listening in. I uncovered some incredible dealings and was awarded a batch of medals. I got married, had a mess of puppies, and now I'm just retired."
The guy is amazed. He goes back in and asks the owner what he wants for the dog.
"Ten dollars."
The guy says, "This dog is amazing. Why on earth are you selling him so cheap?"
"Because he's a liar. He didn't do any of that stuff!"

BTW... my crossbreed dog, Sam, used to "speak" to me all the time...as did Pixie, one of my cats

I've seen hundreds of huskies bark working at shelters!....but yes they prefer to howl first. they are a "howly breed"
as for teaching them. you have to catch him in the middle of a howl and praise him for it, or give a treat and say "speak" or "howl" or whatever word you pick. then he associates the food with the behavior and the word with the behavior.

No. Dogs don't have the proper voicebox to mimic human language. The only word they can say, from a scientific viewpoint, is 'mom.'
