Walakum Asalaam wa Rahamatuallahi wa Barakatu
Peace and Mercy and Blessing of Allah (God) by upon you All.
The correct translation is Peace Be upon you ALL
Not peace be upon you....that would be Asalaam alayka but you are saying Asalaam alaykum...UM referring to the plural
We say the plural because we are also spreading salaam (peace) to the angels to the left and right of them which are recording deeds. They give salaams back and we do not hear them but they hear us. They are part of the unseen.
