If you have the budget to treat all 400 people to excellent food, a fun night, wine/drinks, personal attention, and a classy location, then go for it. But, if that means you'll be serving costco party trays of cold cuts and veggie dip and a no-host bar or never talk to most the guests, not have a dance floor big enough to house them, or have the place be uncomfrotable overall, then yes, you are inviting too many. Quality not Quantity is the way to have a classy elegant affair. : )

It's according to your budget that you have, are they all going to be at the reception too? If so, that's alot of people to feed. but if you have the funds, why not. If you dont have the funds to feed that many then i would reconsider my options, have just small stuff to snack on and that would strech it, but most women like having a good meal to feed people.

Most likely about 1/3rd of those people are not going to come. I was freaking out that all those people were going to show up but they didn't and even people who said that they were going to come did not. So you will be fine. That is not too many people.

depends if your invites are cheap people. you will be getting "cash and prizes" at the reception. just shave off the people who are notoriously cheap. invite rich friends and relatives
