1. I would do it as long as theres not too much pressue and its a casual setting like at an event and theres people i know and ect.
2. If you mean for romantic reasons i dont think so. Sometimes its done in the wrong way but theres nothing wrong with going over to chat with a guy but theres better ways. for example:
you notice the guy
the guy notices you
make eye contact and you give him a cute little smile/grin type thing then look away
then look back in a few moments to see if hes still looking and see if he smiles at you
if he does
little after that can go wrong.

Guys 1: How would you like a lady to chat you up?
Depends on if I was attracted to her but even if I wasn't I would still enjoy it and be flattered. Why more women don't do this I don't know.
Guys: 2. Would you like a lady to chat you up or do you think it should always be the guy who approaches the lady?
I'm all for more women making the first move. I think most guys have a hard time reading women so it would be great to have them just speak up sometimes. Why should guys always be the ones to risk rejection?

Okillydokilly;
1,I felt really good when I have been chatted up by a woman
lady, girl in the past, even if I have been unable to say yes
or take it anywhere as I have been attached at the time or
just not interested it has always been seen by myself as a
huge compliment and I have accepted it as such.
2, Why should it always be the guy that has to go and chat
the lady up ?, come on ladies I may not have seen you let
alone thought of talking to you and thats not because of the
way you look or anything like that, just may have been preoccupied with whatever I am doing, why chance missing
out on at the least a chat with someone new because of an
aging and stupid convention, younever know I / they could be
THE one.
So feel free to come up to me and say hi, I only bite when
invited .. lol .. and can hold a conversation for more than erm
hello, who are you ? .. lol ..

I hate being obviously chatted up... the best chatting up is done by men that make me feel that I'm not being chatted up... a man who is interesting with intelligent conversation and is also interested in what I'm saying is a sure fire way to get my attention. The best chat up was a guy once, who introduced himself and then spent the next hour taking the p1ss out of me... making me laugh.... dammit... should have got his number.
Sadly this doesn't happen much, most guys are just looking to get laid for the night and feel the need to be pompous tw@ts.

um i may chat up a guy but am not very good at it, so even if i did the guy prob wouldnt notice!
if i'm interested in someone i tend to just chat to them and become friendly first,,, but then saying that i chat to anyone and become friendly with people anyway...
i once smiled at a man in a pub and put his bottle down for him as he was stretching to reach the table... this apparently to him was a sign that i wanted to go back to his!!!
