Colouring you hair black shouldn't be a problem, it's the little streaks that you will have trouble with. You will need to bleach out the streaks first and then tone them the colour you wish the Bleach shouldn’t be that much of a problem unless you do it too many times, like 4 is definitely too many, twice should be fine. Unfortunately, the toner will rinse out very quickly because the molecules are not hardy enough. The best thing might be to find a daily or weekly toner, a purple bingo marker for instance. You may want to try to tone with Purple Cool Aid, the staining effect is honestly pretty much as good as any commercial colour. Good luck dear and have fun, it’s only hair after all and will always grow back no matter what you do.

JD did you even read your own article you twit, it says hair colour DOES NOT increase the risk of cancer.

There's a product called "red lights" in the Regis salons. They have a red violet that's beautiful. It's made especially for dark hair. The down side, they do fade out. Our Matrix color line just came out with some vibrants like that also. We just got them in shipment so I have had the chance to experiment yet.

It's not going to be any different on your hair then dying it. Condition it well, and definately use a shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair. I like Redkin best. If your're going to spend that much money on your hair, spend a little more for the right shampoo to keep it healthy.

There are non-permanent rinses that can applied to your hair and are not usually as harsh as hair dyes.

get it done professionally... if you do it yourself, you may over process your hair. at a salon, they will use the correct mixture.

anytime you put chemicals in your hair, it affects the "health" of your hair.... it becomes weaker and eventually brittle.
