My six-year-old female Siamese cat has been chewing off her fur on her stomach. We thought that it could be stress because we recently put our house up for sale and have numerous people come in the house which she doesn't like, but it has been going on far before that. She's been doing it so much that now her whole belly and under-legs are almost bald. I thought that all a vet would do is put a cone on her head which would just stress her out more. Any help or ideas are greatly appreciated!!

Hi,

If not fleas...?? It possibly is allergies or psoriasis... You could try baby power... She will be soothed anyway.. an she may find it
not so good tasting... Also, mineral oil might do it.....These might work before spending for a vet...
If not, see your favorite vet....lol...

Good luck...

This can be due t a number of things: could be stress, or nerosis, some cats just go a little nuts and start removing hair for no reason, could be she is allergic to something and her belly is ichy, take her to the vet, the cone won't stress her that bad, or try bitter apple spray from the pet store. Good luck!

It's probably fleas. My cat did that last summer...he chewed off all the hair in 2 spots on his neck. He has a severe allergy to fleas. We had to take him to the vet finally.

try bathing her in oatmeal water, maybe twice a week and give her liquid benadryl in a dropper a cpl times a day
no she wont appreciate the bath but the oatmeal combined with the benadryl she should stop itching and her hair should start to grow back

Its Fleas. All those people have brought them in on their cloths. Please get a flea comb and check her belly, face, and neck. Many cats are allergic to fleas and it itches horribly they will scratch and chew their fur off to relieve themselves,
