Well, there are two types of atheists: those who resist the orthodox culture openly and those who are "closet" atheists. A closet atheist would say "So help me god" out loud, but under his breath he's say BS. A defiant atheist would perhaps try to resist saying it or "go to court" or do some other time-consuming principled thing.

Amazingly enough, I had a friend tell me he was in a discussion with a professed Athiest and the dude kept using the terms, 'so help me God,' and 'sure as Hell.'

Kind of contradicts themselves, huh?

The Hinduism is the oldest religion on the planet try and find how they say it. Your religion is all made up from many letters from the scholars besides Christianity is also an Asian religion adopted by the godless western world.

In many courts, for example, instead of "so help me god" on a bible, the person swears, "I do affirm...."

Because that phrase is meaningless in our society. I always chuckle after that phrase because it is ludicrous. God hates us. I have spoken to it and it says we suck.

My mom says that's taking the lord's name in vain, so I say it just to annoy her. It doesn't mean anything to me.

They're just words made up by society. It doesn't offend me, it's just meaningless.
