Religion is really good for nothing and only serves to promote hatered to others that are not like you. Religion may have, in the past, served to control peoples misbehaviours, but now we have a complex legal system to take care of that and it really is not nessecary to have religion anymore.....i guess it gives some people false hope to go to some happy place after they die though....
Also one thing it is good for is to enable the ruling class to maintian control over the average person and instill an environment that discourages critical thinking and encourages faith (belief without any form of proof or indication of correctness)

People kill in the name of religion, but religion doesn't ask them too. Religions don't cause wars; bibles don't kill people. Set one on the table and tell it to kill. Go ahead, I'll wait.
War is in our nature. Animals fight over who is going to lead the pack, we're no different. Killing is in our nature. Pride, a persons need to feel right and accepted cause war. There is nothing more dangerous than someone that believes in something with all their heart. I recall something about a guy that wanted to change the world "for the better," Adolph-something-or-other.
Everyone has an idea of what is right and what is wrong, it's when we get too attached to an idea that trouble can breed.
Sorry 'bout the sarcasm, it just works so well.

Religons are not able to create wars and hate. It's the people of these religions and there overzelousness of that religion that create these things. You can start a religion were the only bases and law of that religion were create no hate and create no war and in a short time some of the people of that religion will be creating the very thing there religion does not tollerate. Until people start repsecting others in all aspects will this stop.........

Your diatribe commits the fallacy of an unqualified generalisation. Do religions ONLY forment hate and wars? And what does over-population got to do with religion in this instance? Which religion teaches that its adherents should over-populate the earth? And can we ever over-populate the earth, bearing in mind that there are a lot of land not used by man on earth? You should temper your diatribe with sound reasoning and proper facts. Otherwise you are just shouting polemic here rather than wanting to discuss something rationally.

In my opinion, religion is a way for knowing God. You can have many ways to know God, as a matter of fact; everyone should have their own way of knowing God. All religion eventually will come to one point which is God.
The one thing that is really matter is God. Religions can not exist without God, not the other way around.
And don’t be fooled by “religious” people saying that their religion is the “only” or “best” way to God. Who give them the right to quote that, God????
Hate, wars and poverty is made by a religious people, who are hunger for power and money. They can not admit that there might be truth in other religion as well, because if they do that they’ll lose all the power and money. Remember it was religious people who killed Jesus.
No matter what religion are you, how religious are you, as long as you have faith in God, you are in the right track.

i don't think religions are there to cause hate and wars. i think the objective of religion is to bind and unite people who have the same belief, and to give these people a sense of belongingness and spirituality. without religion, the world will have a poor sense of morality, of ethics.
hate, wars, and killings happen when a certain group of people practice pride and exclusivity. they think that their belief is the only true belief and they are superior over other people. they discriminate, they force their religions to other people, and try binding everyone under one faith without realizing that multiple religions can coexist harmoniously.
imagine a place, a destination that can be reached through different routes. there's one route in the east, another in the south, one winding, one straight. that's how religions work. different religions, different routes. but all going to a single destination, a place that's beyond human comprehension.
if people would learn to respect other people's beliefs, religion would not be a cause of wars, killings, and hatred. rather, it will cultivate religious diversity which exists harmoniously through respect, happiness, and faith.

Yes, it's true religion has had negative effects on poeple. And even Jesus rebuked "religious" people, the hyporcritcal knowledgable types who flaunt their beliefs like a badge. Indeed, religion has negative effects on people, but God has great effects on humanity!
We went and visited the tsunami area in southern Thailand. It was full of poeple who had lost everyhting and were looking for answers. And many found their answer in God, who provides healing, shelter, and peace.
In Pakistan, the poverty mindset has trapped much of the society into the idea that, as long as they can make it thru day by day, they'll be fine. And then God comes along and brings them out of that poverty.
These are just a couple examples in a very large world where God is moving on his people and, in fact, removing much of the religious holds that ensare the poepl of this planet.

Religion is how you act everday. If you hate, you practice the religion of hate. If you promote sex, that is your religion. The gilded titles of being a Muslim, a Jew, a Christian mean nothing. It is how you live. No one can make you do otherwise. You must relize that being religious simply means to keep repeating the same thing over and over. It doesn't matter how you live, if your in a pattern, you are religious. No one can control anyone else, to say otherwise is simply weakness.

If you look at the source of religion, for e.g. the Bible or the Qur'an,they never teach its adherents to hate other religions.
For e.g. Jesus teach one to be kind and just to your neighbours, not to hate your enemy. Instead, show your love towards others even to your enemies.
Al-Qur'an teaches the same thing, to be just and kind and not to backbite, bicker and in short infiltrate hatred.
I believe other religion teaches the same thing. Confucius, although is not a religion, teaches us to be kind and benevolent towards others.
So how could we say that religions cultivate hatred?
It is actually the people; claiming to be religious and expert in their religion are those who infiltrate hatred.
