In the middle of my bottom lip is this really dry spot. It's a little more red than the rest of my lip and has a weird, bumpy texture. It's not that noticable, but it hurts, and always seems to by dryed out no matter what I do. Don't give me an answer like "you have herpes you skank" because that's idiotic and doesn't help anything. I've never even kissed anybody, much less anything else. Plus I don't share my lip gloss with anybody, so is there another way you can get a cold sore and tha'ts what it is? Or is it something else?

It's very likely a cold sore or fever blister, both of which are caused by the herpes virus, like it or not. Most people have this type of virus. It's not the same as the STD herpes. Use Carmex ointment on it. The best is the kind in the little jar. Just keep using it as often as possible. It can take up to two weeks to get rid of them.

If it doesn't go away within two weeks, or if it comes back again, go to a dermatologist. It could be a form of skin cancer.

I have used Carmex daily since I was a kid and haven't had a cold sore or fever blister since.

Actually, it sounds like you do have Herpes. However, not genital herpes like you insinuated. There are a variety of ways to get them. It could be as simple as a tainted cup at a fast food joint or touching something and rubbing your mouth. It is nothing to worry about. We all get them and they fade. BTW Cold Sores are Herpes. Young people think this is funny.

Check it out with your local doctor love...it may just be a cold sore..or it may be something that a dermatologist can give you a remedy for. In any case, the doctor has to give you a referral to see them.

People can get skin cancer on their lips, because they are exposed to the sun most of the time.

I suggest a visit to a dermatologist.
