Any gathering of believers, where certain choreographed events take place is a ritual.
Catholics have their masses, their processions, their pilgrimages to Lourdes and Fatima, but also the yearly blessing by the Pope from his window on Easter.
Protestants have less rituals, except for the Church of England (Episcopalians), which is a lot like Catholic religion. Yet any service in a church is a ritual. Baptism is a ritual, church marriage is ritual, etc. etc.
Ritual is what makes the believers feel they "belong" and gives them an identity and security in life.

Of course. Every religion has it's own rituals and practices. Since when did "ritual" become a dirty word? Geez.

Catholicism is full of them, and some of them don't even represent anything! They just do it because every one else does! How silly is that?
