Whew that sounds dirty. But the question isn't.

I'm housesitting for a friend and earlier their cockatiel was going crazy. I posted a question on here on how to hush him up. I was told to put a blanket or something over the cage.

Well, that worked. Until I later discovered he had made some very large holes in the sheet I used.

My question is this: Do I offer to replace the sheet? Do I get a full set so their sheets match? It is a king size and feels really soft so I'm thinking it is going to cost a pretty penny (good sheets don't come cheap).

What would you do?

well, apologize and see how that goes. they probably have a cover for the cage anyway, but they really should've went over the details with you..............i wouldn't worry about it, you're so sweet to even be upset about it i bet no one can stay mad at you anyway :)

Why not ask the person who owns the house next time you talk to them --- you know just tell them what happend --- maybe they care more about the bird being calmed down then the value of the sheet... maybe offer to replace the sheets..they could just say forget about it ... after all you are taking care of their bird ...

I don't think you should run out and replace the sheet, although I'm sure you're kicking yourself for using something that seems expensive. They should have given you instructions on calming the bird and left you something to use, so I'm sure they'll appreciate your efforts to fix the prob and your honesty about what happened.

when they come home fess up and explain the error

offer to pay for it ..
(and have the catalog price in mind)

or
buy a new sheet set as a replacement and offer to exchange them for the pair of destroyed sheets ..(then you can sew up the holes and still enjoy nice sheets yourself)

I would talk to them before spending any money.
they may have had plans to replace the sheet set, so you should let them choose something to their own liking and contribute part of the cost.

As for the question I would explain what happened to the owners. They should understand that it was their dog that did the damge not you.

Wash it really quick or change it and tell them the truth. That will have them put more trust in you
