Why wouldn't you? People seem not to realize that the purpose of the war was to take an evil dictator out of power, not to mention his neighbors had nuclear capabilities. If he invaded one of those countries(like he did before) Saddam would then have nukes, which is not good. Our military intelligence SUGGESTED that he had biological weapons, even if he didn't have them he still needed to be out of power. Now Iraq has democracy and the people are actually voting. The media makes it look like we're losing horribly, that is not true. For every U.S. causality there are around 25+ insurgents that are killed. So far about 2,500 Americans have died in 3 1/2 years of combat, that is nowhere near as many that we lost in the 3 1/2 years of WWII. I think instead of criticizing the war we need to show more support for our military.

No I believe the nation of America did at first when the media led the public to believe there were weapons of mass destruction and Iraq was harboring, "Terrorists", but now I believe that since reports have come out claiming Mr. Bush planned on invading if Iraq had weapons or not deflated the support for this effort. Now it seems as if this invasion of a sovereign country who's government was recognized by the UN was toppled by the US and now there is a huge mess to be dealt with. It is because I have served in the military in which I say this as the people over there are doing their job. It is the actions of the Commander and Chief and the support of congress in which I disagree. The country should be looking on how to withdrawal as I think a civil war will be inevitable, but a new government which the people of Iraq would be formed from their sweat, blood, and yes beliefs. Event if their beliefs disagree with our western democratic thinking.

I did, but I don't anymore. I think it's become a quagmire, and that after all this expense the country is going to wind up being no more pro-Western than it was under Sadaam and probably less peaceful. Iran is gaining influence in Iraq and the country's Shiite majority who now holds power there has longstanding ties to Iran. The Iraqi President has made anti-Israel comments recently. Worse still for the Iraqi people is the fact that there is constant warfare between the different ethnic groups there. I think that someone in America thought Iraq could become a beacon of multiculturalism and peaceful coexistence. We should have learned thats a pipe dream -- all over the world countries with diverse ethnic groups face civil war -- the West Bank, Northern Ireland, the Balkans, Sri Lanka...

Sure do, and even went over there and fought in it.
Why? Because somebody had to do it, and it wasn't going to be some fatass yuppie sitting in a coffee house, running his mouth about "war" and other things he knows nothing about.
Those of you who've never been over there, need to keep your mouths shut about "war". You know nothing, and can add nothing worthwhile to any conversation about "war", therefore you should keep your commentary confined to "American Idol", "So You Think You Can Dance", and other weighty matters.
We're doing more good over there than you'll ever see on CNN, and you should ask the people who've been there for the real story. You may be surprised at the result.
The media has led you to believe that Soldiers are simple-minded robots, with nothing in the way of intelligence or cognitive thought. You only show your appalling ignorance when you buy into that myth.

Its all fine for the majority of us Americans to sit at home in peace and not have to worry about someone kicking down our door, raping our women and children, murdering our families, stealing everything, shooting us down in the street, blowing up our homes, etc. you get the picture. But, suppose just for one minute that we did have a country like that where we were fearful of our lives every second of every day and were powerless to do anything about it, wouldn't you want someone to come in and help you. Damn right you would. I don't want our troops over there anymore than the next person, but we have to help the Iraqi people gain the power to fight for the very freedoms the majority of us take for granted, so yes I support the war.

Because all the reasons given to go to war, the intelligence regarding WMDs, the nonexistent connection between Sadam Hussein and Osama Bin Laden, turned out to be false. I also believe we went into the war far too hastily. If Bush would have listened to experts and the U.N., it probably would never have happened.

No, because they aren't even there looking for Osoma or Weapons anymore. Why are they still there? I support our troops though for putting their lives on the line for our freedom and safety. I have several friends over there right now. They just need to clean up, get out of there and let the new government start on it's own. But if they ever attack us again, I say drop a bomb on 'em!

Yes, but I do not support the way we are fighting it. The Geneva Conventions and whining liberals should be thrown in the same shithole, the gloves taken off, ultimatums given and if not obeyed, mass destruction because not ONE American life is worthlosing in that craphole.
