My temper flared when the calls to my mobile and the SPAM on my mobile began back in 2002. I shut off the messaging, and added my mobile to the ‘do not call list’. Had the list never been created, I would have eventually committed an act of violence against one of these offenders, if I knew their location, and it was within days drive. I would have done this to make an example of them. I would have very likely done a lot of property damage. I would not have hurt anyone unless they tried to stop me.

Have such acts been committed in the past? Were Juries sympathetic? What was the outcome?

I always keep my telephone numbers unlisted and only a handful of people know my mobile number. I signed onto the national Do Not Call registry, have Caller ID and unless I can read a recognizable # or name, I let the answer machine take it, and I don't have an out-going message that reveals my name or #. I have not had a telemarketer call me for ages.

I have been a telemarketer in the past. I know what a nuisance it is, but some people do need a job. I try to be sympathetic with them seeing as I have been there, and done that.

When a telemarketer calls me I just remind them of that certain SNICKERS commercial that a wakes up a guy while sleeping from a telemarketer phone call and the guy then just goes to the telemarket building and stomps the telemarketers phone in front of the other telemarketers, then I just hang up the phone.

Not that I know of,

When I encounter one, I let them talk, they try their entire selling act on me, then after I have wasted enough of their time, I say no.
These conversations usually last 15-30 minutes!
They are dumb enough to take the bait.

Get caller i.d....then screen your calls....don't answer if you don't recognize the number.

I agree that they are just folks doing a job. I answer the phone and tell them, "Hey, I know you're just doing your job, but I'm gonna cut to the chase and tell you no, I don't want what your selling...now, if you want to go ahead and say your schpiel, go for it....I'm gonna finish what I was doing, but I wouldn't want you to get docked any pay for a short call."

9 times out of 10, they just say, uh, ok, thank you for your time, and then hang up.

Otherwise they say their schpiel, I say, "same answer." then it's Thankyou and goodbye.

Well, actually, I reached through the phone and choked the life out of one little @#*&%^@#!!! . The jury voted to award me a $10,000.00 stipend for service to the community.
