Islam has no place for such exalted positions.
Every common muslim can be a priest....or say a leader.
Those who claim such positions are wrong.

The Pope is to Christianity about the same as Osama bin Laden is to Islam. Primarily in popularity - More people probably know who Osama is actually
Isn't that sad.
Osama is revered in many areas in the Muslim world - over 100 million in Indonesia really admire Osama. What a bunch of idiots - really shows how religion fosters ignorance.
No real leadership in Islam - Imam's and Ayatollahs can hold leadership positions, but it's different than the pope.

Among Sunnis, that position is roughly the Caliph, who used to be the Ottoman Sultan, but has been vacant since the 1920's. There is discussion in the Sunni world about how, or whether, the caliphate should be carried on.
I'm not exactly sure about the position of Ayatullah, as I don't know much about Shiism. I guess it can be seen as roughly equivalent to a pope, but I'm really not sure.

None. Islam does'nt believe in priests, all Muslims are equal and have the same access and position in the eyes of God. In earlier days a Caliph was appointed as a sort of religious judge who could help the people with their decision making and policy making procedures but was not considered omnipotent. In fact the Quran says to overthrow your ruler if you consider him unjust and not religious.

That's a tough question! Imam Abu Hanifa, I would think. There is no one like the pope, though. They all have different beliefs based upon research of the Holy Quran. However, no one is EQUAL. They are all representatives of the religion. Abu Hanifa is the most respected.

There is no priesthood in Islam, all stand equal.
In short EVERYONE is just as much "priest" as participant. The leaderof the prayer is chosen by the other participants bsed on piety, steadfastness, wisdom, and knowledge.
