If you have your mind control over your body, i suppose you can do anything in the world even its spending one whole week without sleep. But when it comes it your body, each and every muscle and organ in our body requires a certain period of rest. This rest provided to these organs ensures better functioning of the latter the next day. Our body is very susceptible to suden changes i.e. when any individuals loses his/her regular sleep time, some digestion problems will occur for some of them as its disturbing the body clock. As i m a person who does regular workout, it is necessary that i take at least 6-8 hours of sleep a day.

When I was opening up a new storefront business a few years back I went 87 hours without sleep. I was so exciting and stoked about the new business that I didn't feel tired in the least for at least two days.

Yes ,it is possible to not feel tired to go one whole day without sleep if you are very engrossed in a certain activity.
Cos mentally, you would be able to 'push' your body.
However, once you stop what you are doing and quiet down, you are likely to feel very tired and would still need to rest for your body to recuperate.

very possible. a human can go for days without sleeping, although at a certain point the body begins to experience "microsleeps"... nodding off for a second or two (or less) at a time.
