I want to reap the health benefits, plus good taste. I want something moderately priced since it will be drunk everyday.
Maybe 2 or 3 choices.

The jury is still out (not convinced) on the healthy aspects of consuming red wine every day.

In other words -- take it easy. You can drink pomegrante juice, or red grape juice for the same benefits.

However - since you asked. The best way to store wine is in a cool place. If you can afford a mini-cooler (a mini refrigerator that holds bottles, with uniform temperature controls), then you can purchase more pricier wines and keep them longer.

I'm not sure if there's a difference in the reds, but I assume a heavy tannin is better. Cabernet Sauvignon -- Syrah (or Shiraz) -- Pinot Noir are good California wines that are affordable.

They are also heavier reds, than, say, a Merlot or Cabernet Franc. The other thing to consider, is how you store an opened bottle. Ask someone in a wine shop -- they sell stoppers, and items to spray in the bottle.

Heavier reds will also last longer (not go sour). Do your homework via google for that.

Red wine is best stored at cellar temperature - once it's been opened, just put the cork back in (or use a stopper of some sort) and place on your counter (out of the sun) or in a cool closet - upright to prevent leakage.

My favorite reds under $15 are as follows:

Amberhill Cabernet
Six Prong Red
Cycles Gladiator Syrah
Chiaramonte
Pepi Sangiovese

Each one of these is incredibly drinkable and vintage doesn't really matter. They are consistant and not too harsh in any one quality. Well balanced for the price, as far as I am concerned. The best deal is probably the Cycles Syrah - it's under $10, but drinks better than many $35 bottles I've had.

730 days of those 1000 days ( 73% of the time ) were democratic dominated in the oval office, the house and the senate. Yet still we have a few responding to your question blaming republicans. HEY LIBBIES, you should thank the republicans for stopping it. The near $5 trillion in added debt totally Obama and the dems would be much higher if not for the 2010 election. --- where the dems got a worst any party a$$ whippin in 70 years!!! After losing 60 house seats, 10 senate seats and 680 state level assembly seats. Wake the F up! Guess what.....you think the nation was ticked off then as evidence of the dem party nation wide got a good ol' fashion widening of their sphincter muscle, watch what happens 11 months from now.

My personal favorites are Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, and Merlot. These varieties are available in many price ranges so there should be something to fit your budget. All go well with most foods, especially pizza and spagetti.

It can be chilled and will last longer this way, but I prefer to leave the bottle unchilled in a wine rack. Better flavor.

Concha y Toro Cabernet-Sauvignon + Merlot, from Chile. After opening, keep in the fridge with the cork pushed in. There is a lot of nonsense talked about drinking red wine warm, but cool is best.

Reutable branded Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon or blends based on these. Unless you intend to cellar for a reasonable period the bootles are fine kept upright. Keep a closure on part bottles.

Merlot, Syrah, and Zinfandel...get a flip top sealer and a nitrogen canister to spray in the bottle before you seal it.

If it oxidizes too much the flavor will be ruined...

4 glasses in a bottle...cheers!

I love Black Swan Shiraz. I leave it in a glass wine container in my kitchen. Don't put in the fridge, it's not good cold. And yeah, it's cheap and good.
