If nothing else, put an ad in the paper, saying exactly what you said here..."15 year old beagle that nobody wants anymore." I'm sure some kind hearted person will provide love and care to this unwanted animal in its final months or years. Think how sad this poor beagle will be to be treated like this. Isn't there some other solution than giving it away, or killing it?

Hi,

Truly, the dog would miss his family too much if you gave it away... If you loved him once a long time ago, he deserves an
easy letting go... Don't let him go on a road to have him hit by a car... There are too many of those already and it is dangerous
for drivers too... and let him loose where he may starve to death
or be attack by fleas, or bigger wild animals...
The only and best solution is to have him privately put to sleep... He will follow you as he trust you, and you can ask the vet if you can stay till the end... Normally the get a first shot to have them go to their own world, an the second shot will induce
cardiac arrest... Find the right vet...

I know, because a long time ago I had to have my 10 year old
male cat put to sleep... He was adorable, but the last year(only)
he was spaying all corner of my apartment, and at 10 years
of age it was better to have him put to sleep... I stayed with him
all the way... He was not scared, an never felt any pain... If needed, I would choose the same way again...

Good luck...

Is this your dog and you do not want it because it is old? It is sad when a dog has been a faithfful companion for 15 years and now that it is getting old, it is no longer wanted. Kind of like old people who get stuck in nursing homes and the families forget all about them.

You love it and look after it just as though it was still a puppy. Remember, you will be old one day and you don't want your family and friends asking the same question about you when the time comes. What goes around, comes around...

you've had the dog for that long and no one wants it anymore? if you try to give it anyway it won't do well in a new home.
