The Catechism of the Catholic Church states:

The Lord Jesus chose men to form the college of the twelve apostles, and the apostles did the same when they chose collaborators to succeed them in their ministry.

The Church recognizes herself to be bound by this choice made by the Lord himself. For this reason the ordination of women is not possible.

With love in Christ.

This is one area where the church follows scripture. Paul admonished the Corinthians to "let the women to keep silent in church."

There is a priest shortage because of celibacy. The church does not follow Paul who said Bishops should have a wife. This could be more easily changed. The catholic church as a few hundred former episcopalian priests who were allowed to retain their spouses when they converted.

The quick reply is that the priest is status within the function of Jesus throughout the social gathering of the eucharist. Jesus got here to Earth as a person. To have a females stand within the function of Jesus is absurd. The Catechism of the Catholic Church can let you know extra. The Catholic Church reveres Mary, the mummy of Jesus, above every other mere human. Anyone who calls the Catholic Church misogynist is both seriously misinformed approximately The Church, or the individual is a blatant liar.

For this to make ANY sense--you have to believe in the Bible....
I Corinthians 14:34 prohibits such matters, and it is backed by the Pope who is the ULTIMATE EARTHLY authority in the Catholic.Church. No modifications are permitted of the words of scripture-check out the last Chapter of Revelations.
Nothing "sexist" about it, and can 300 million Catholics be wrong? It is basically only in the US where "womens lib" has caused such a stir...the "Male Priest " concept is widely accepted worldwide, since the Priest is the "Father" of his congregation. How can a woman be addressed as "Father"?

Excellent question. I am Catholic and I wonder why the church will not allow women to be priests and why priests cannot marry. If these things were possible perhaps we would have more priests and fewer pedophiles in services.

There have been female priests in the church, ordained in Germany. However, they were ex-communicated by the new Pope. About a dozen more are to be ordained soon. I guess the church would feel their manly influences would be undermined.

The Bible says no - something like "women will sit and learn in silence." Men have interpreted this and other similar statements to mean women cannot pass on the word of God.

Do not begin to believe that religion will coincide with society as a whole. Perhaps it merely shows the ugly underbelly.

Timothy 2:11-14 "Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression."

1 Corinthians 14:34 "Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church."

This is one of many very large gaping holes in the thinking of the Catholic church. The closer you look the more you will find.

because the church, especially the catholic church, tries to keep women in a lower status, and it's old fashioned and disgusting in my opinion. I'd love to see a female pope.
