Baby tear-free shampoo and some cotton. That's all it takes. Don't put any over the counter meds in your cats eye's. Just a few drops of shampoo in a capful of water. take cotton and soak, wipe over each eye from front to back using a new one for each eye. Sometimes cat hair gets in their eye's and irritates them. If it worsens(swelling,pus,etc..) or lasts longer than 3 days with no improvement take to vet.

For eye disorders, sometimes it could be caused by dirt or cat litter dust getting into the eye. First try to clean it with our regular eyedrops like Eye-Mo. When you apply the eyedrops, do it liberally, and gently rub the groove between the eye and the nose. This is enable the eyedrops to flow throug the eye ducts and clear the passage there.
Do it 3~4 times a day.
If after 2 days, and there are no improvements or worse eg. discharge and redness under the eye, you should take it to the vet. Always follow your vet's instructions on using the vet's eye drops. Never prolong the use of the eyedrops beyond the vet's recommendations as it will damage the eye.

Well I hope that you will be a responsible pet owner & take your cat to the vet anyway. There is no sure way to know what is really wrong with your cat, but it sounds like it may have an Upper Respitory Infection. Which can be very seriuous. Giving your cat an over the counter med should not even be an option, sense they don't really sell over the counter meds for animals like they do for humans. You need to what is right & get your animal to a vet Monday morning. I also have cats & I also have a limited amount of funds, but if I've ever thought that one of my cats was ill in any way I have put personal things aside & have taken them in. This animal did not ask to be yours, you chose to become its owner. And that msakes you responsiable for its care, and for its well being. Your cat depends on you alone to make sure its healthy, don't let it down.

Might have a foxtail or some other weed in its eye, if it goes outdoors. Get a flashlight, have tweezers ready. Hold your kitty down and shine the light in its eye while you pull back its eyelids, both upper and lower. Sometimes you can barely see a bit of the weed sticking out. If so, get it with the tweezers and pull it out. Prepare to be scratched, because it really hurts them! Hope that is all it is. Happens to my kitties. If you can't see anything, you will have to take kitty to the vet, because if it is a weed and it gets behind the eyeball, it can penetrate the brain and killl kitty. If it is something other than a weed, kitty needs vet care.

Your cheapest remedy is salt water:::::
Make a strong solution of salt water, and take a piece of cotton wool and wipe the eye out about three times a day until it clears....
The next best thing is eye ointment, you should have eye ointment that you got from a pharmacist at one stage or the other, that would work if you could put it into the eye three times a day

Wash kitties eyes with a sparkling textile and somewhat water. in case you will locate veterinary eye ointment or drops, placed them interior the cats eyes one million-thrice an afternoon. an area rescue would donate the medicine to you in case you compromise to assist the cat.

You could get medication for Conjunctivitis and hope it's the right diagnosis..
I would personally 'invent' money to get her checked, since it could get worse if untreated.
