I agree, i am agnostic. From my point of view, it seems that Christians fight amongst themselves more than with non-believers. (Most of the time) The difference between our insults is this, a non-believer who insults a christian is trying to be hurtful and they know it. A christian who insults a non-believer is hurtful, but think they are justified for doing it, and it is in no way hurtful in their own eyes. Its up to you what you think is worse.

I am not a christian. I am a Hindu. I agree with you in that we cannot be judgemental, in our religious beliefs. I love Jesus, too. I am unable to subscribe to many of the doctrines, which the christian churches, propagate, in a systematic and organised way. They are very dogmatic. I find much of their theology wrong and there is no basis for them in Christ's teachings. All the churches want the whole humankind believe that Jesus is the only saviour and that the rest will be condemned to hell. If you believe in the universality of God, you must accept that the goal of all religions is to lead men to God. There are more than one ways that lead men to God.

I think your question is also the answer. I hate the way people use god, allah etc for thier own gain. It is so easy to blame someone else when we don't have the answer to what is happening. We blame the jews, christians, muslims just because we feel we are right but we never listen to others as we feel we are right and "our" god is right without question. I can blame god for having a hard life due to the fact he could not stand next to me where all could see me blame him and for he to defend hiself, so I think we all blame each other but when we know of what religeon thay are we blame that. If god came down and spoke on the TV we would find another reason to sling the mud. To be a better person we need to listen and accept we could be wrong or we don't understand the other persons point of view, that what makes us better, we don't have to belive but we also don't have to dismiss. Does this answer the question. good health to you and god bless

I am Godless.
Every instinct I have and my finely tuned sense of logic and reason allows only a slim margin for the existence of a sentient God. That being said, I have a profound respect for religion in almost all of its forms. People have been motivated by the love of god or the fear of Hell to do some of the most important works ever done.
Though I do not believe, I have actually encouraged people to seek a relationship with God. I don’t feel that I need it, but it was clear to me that it would help them. I would never abide one who tried to force their religious beliefs on another because the very concept of faith is requires an inborn need for what it provides. You cannot simply jam it into someone who is not ready to receive it.

You sound like a respectful person. Life is complicated and it takes an ability to deal with contradictions; there are always contradictions. And if you can handle contradictions, that is a good measure of your sanity. Sanity is important.
Faith is much less specific then belief, it is also makes life's problems more manageable for that reason.
I heard a Deacon giving a Sermon say that "Faith is like taking a step off the face of a cliff. In other words, Faith is not based on worldly facts so please don't misunderstand this comment and go walking off a cliff face, faith is not a literal explanation of events or reality. Faith is a form of knowing, and life makes no promises except that somehow it all works out.
I hope that does it for you. I think you are right on the button with your question and comments. Welcome to the adult world.
Be nice to the children with their fixed and tired ideas.

Agreed. That's why I'm staying out of the religion section of this site. I've never seen so many God wannabes in my life. You can't post any question in there without someone telling you, "You're going to hell!" Funny. The last time I checked, God himself was the only one who could send us to hell. And then there's the atheists that can't control themselves, "There is no God!" Like they're gonna pile up the best answers by repeating the same thing on every question, when they are obviously in the wrong section.
I guess I learned my tolerance for trolls in that category. I grew up Catholic, and I don't remember anyone ever telling me to get in people's faces for any reason.

My view point on relegion.Wether or not god exist is irrelevant really, because if everyone in the world would follow the way of the bible as far as morals goes the world would be a lot nicer of a place.I myseldf believe in god, I do not go to church but I try to live as righteous as a life as I can but I to make mistakes.I used to look down on a lot of people but Ive learned thats no way to spend my time, its far more productive to observe and correct my own faults rather than spend time observing the faults of others.

I agree about the holier than thou Christians. I, too, am a christian, Mormon, actually. And I get my fair share of Jokes and what-not. But what really gets my goat, is when those bible thumpers just push things on you. For instance, those religious tracts, those little pamphlets that spell out all the ways i am going to hell. It drives me crazy...DO Not sit there on a throne and judge me! It just instantly puts me in a non-communicative mood. You do not need to wear your religion on your sleeve, so to speak. To me, actions speak louder than words. I am in awe of the people that can do for the lord in a quiet and spiritual way, whether it be something little like volunteering in a soup kitchen, or helping out on Sundays at church. The ones that practically scream "look at me! I'm being religious, and so should you!" drive me batty!

I think that within every religion there are people who believe in their own way and that one catholic or christian is not the same as the next and I don't think anyone should be condemned for that. Each of us believe in God or not - but in our own way - we all have some higher power, some belief that keeps us going and we all interpret religion in our own way and that is our right - so don't worry about everyone else. I was raised Catholic but there are sooooo many things I do not agree with in that religion - so I have my own beliefs. It does not make me any less of a believer - all that should matter to you is your belief and that it feels right in your heart and soul - don't worry about everyone else. If you are getting this from the church you go to, try a different chuch where people respect other people. Just worry about what is inside of you - respect their beliefs but you don't have to accept them for your own - just as you want yours to be respected. live and let live. Some people have nothing else in this world - nothing else to hold onto and get them through to tomorrow - that is where some of these religion obsessed people are coming from - so try to understand that - people in jail, people recovering from addictions and others - that is all they have left to hold onto - no family, no friends so they make it their world but don't let it bring you down. you believe in what you believe and know that that is ok - that is what you should believe in - the most important thing is that you believe in something so don't worry about anyone else.

well i think it's good that some people need something in their lives that they can believe in, no matter what, like god. although i believe there is some form of god, im not really specific on one or not very religious.
what sometimes bothers me is that sometimes a person's whole life seems like it revolves around god, which i guess is their choice, but it's kind of annoying sometimes. i mean, i hate it when i say something like "oh my god/gosh" and a person freaks out wit "U SHOULDNT TAKE D LORD'S NAME IN VAIN" i mean im sorry it's just a phrase that i use, its not like im trying to offend God and be condemned to hell for like a million eternities
