For quite a while now, I have been getting very easily angered and am to the point now where the littlest things other people do bother me. Sometimes it's with my family, sometimes with the general public, and mostly at work. I have never actually lashed out at anyone, but it takes everything I've got sometimes to hold back. I feel like I'm going to explode sometimes. I don't think I have any major stressors. I'm almost 40, single, no kids, manageable bills, good phsyical health. So why am I so intolerant of people in general???

There are many medical (not psychiatric) reasons that could cause this. You should go to a competent medical doctor and get a blood test to see if you have a vitamin deficiency, a lack of certain amino acids, or a hormonal imbalance. All can cause you to have problems such as those you're experiencing. You can find a good doctor here: http://www.alternativementalhealth.com

Just be sure you don't go to a psychiatrist. They're quacks and their theories are unproven. They do no tests. They just label people and prescribe dangerous drugs. Learn the truth about psychiatry here: http://www.cchr.org It's a Human Rights group that works for psychiatric reform.

Our lives & the way that the world is today can cause anyone to be angry...but just don't give in to it ALL THE TIME. I say it like that because everyone has bad days, but try this on for size & see! It will feel a little funny at first, and not everyone will respond right away & some may not respond at all...but that's only because they are where you are too! Make sure that you try as hard as you can to SLOW DOWN...just a little bit! Stop rushing yourself around....Take some time for you, so that you look nice even if you don't feel it! SMILE...even if you have to fake it. Try to look at some people in thier eyes and acknowlege that they exist with a little nod or a friendly hi...If you get stuck in traffic or in a line...have just a little chuckle & then look around to see what you may be missing! Maybe a beautiful sky, wether it's sunny or raining...Maybe a little baby or a child doing something good or bad...if nothing else you can chuckle that at least you don't have to deal with that right now....Point is...we are all so busy today living our busy lives that we are not REALLY living at all! We are just RUNNING. Running to work, running to the store, running home, running our computers & our TV's & our vehicles....Slow down & look around...really LOOK around and you will enjoy things more, you will have less stress, and you will not anger so quickly! EVERYONE can be late...but if you hurry too much, you may not make it at all! Which is better? SMILE!!! ;))

hi,

These might be signs that you need sexual satisfaction as it has been observed that spinsters and bachelors to a certain extent exhibit this behaviour. Some pointers for you.

1. Try and engage in self pleasure.

2. if masterbation is taboo for you, 40 is still young try and go out with someone.

3. you might not be getting recognised for the work you put in the office thats y you get angry mostly at work.

4. pamper your self sometimes buy your self small knick knacks or save your money for a big present.

5. if you have time on your hands involve your self in community work or charity work but remember it can sometimes be stressful but will nonetheless be fuilfilling and might bring you recognition denied to you at work.

6. join a Gym, light exercise 1 hour a day will keep you in good health and also away from osteoprorosis, besides good mental health is assured. you might try simple Tai Chi or Yoga Asanas, wonderful stress busters

7. Might be a sign of Early menopause or even may be your sexual hormones kicking in at forty, remember WOMEN GET NAUGHTY AT 40.

8. Might be a good idea to go see a doctor for a complete checkup and please remember medication is not good for the body any time.

Well it is very essential to understand that you are the centre of your universe and you being happy is of the utmost importance so sometimes being selfish is good.

I am sorry but i always do tend to start with sex.

Becoming easily irritable is a sign of depression. Do you have any other symptoms...trouble sleeping, changes in eating habits, more withdrawn, less active, among many others? I normally take Zoloft, but when I don't I'm very irritable b/c I'm manic depressive. Not to say that you've suddenly developed this, but mild depression is normal at some point in a person's life, and a mild medication can help ease your way through this time. Also, it may help to try to pinpoint exactly what is making you feel irritable and think through it. Fix it if you can, or do whatever you need to cheer you up.

Sometimes irritability can be a sign of mental illness, like bipolar disorder. Maybe a little counseling or an anger management group would help you.

Take a few minutes to think about it. Think whether or not its worth getting angry over someone who does not care about you.
