I've heard from sources that you can't have sex in a pool. Which is saddening. True?

You can have sex anywhere you want. Now whether or not it is illegal is the question. Are you asking if it is allowed or is it impossible? You are not allowed to have sex in a public pool like at the YMCA. But yes you could have sex in the pool if they let you.
I own a pool, and also a hot tub. I have sex in both of them.

Well, you CAN, but honestly, it's really NOT very comfortable. Water does NOT make a very good lubricant. I know from experience. If this wasn't a factor however, it be fun as hell!

you can but doing it to vigorously may force to much water in there. in the back end is even worst... remember it wont decrees the chances of pregnancy or STDs.
