When I need to ensure that the letter is actually received.

Here, we have various levels of Certified Mail - including things like "Person to person" delivery (where the recipient has to show ID to collect the letter) and signatory notification (where I receive a postcard showing the signature of who signed for it). There are also insurance levels I can attach to the letter as well if the article is valueable.

It basically proves that the letter wasn't "lost in the post".

people who need mail to be tracked for delivery. like tax filings, contracts....etc, anything of high value
