There is no real answer to this question but what I have learned of what love is to me and that is the word LOVE itself holds the answer.......
(L)isten: and validate them by hearing and empathizing.
(O)verlook: their minor character flaws as they will overlook yours.
(V)alue: who they are and what they mean to you.
(E)xpress: how you love them not just with words but with actions.

True love- it hurts. I know that sounds cliche, but from someone who's been there, it's true. What I mean by that is that when you love someone, they are the one person with the power to hurt you the most- their words, their actions, all have power over you because you feel so deeply for that person. You just have to try to fall in love with someone who also understands this and will love you enough to try not to hurt you. Unfortunately, you can't always choose who you fall in love with. Don't let that scare you though, because the opposite is true also. When things are good between both of you, you will feel like you are on top of the world and nothing can ever bring you down. That person also makes you feel safe and secure, like nothing will ever harm you as long as they're around. When you love someone that much, it feels like your heart is full and there is no room left in it. You feel like you can't possibly love them any more and yet somehow you do. And finally, when it's true love, you love that person more than yourself and will do absolutely anything for them.

You can’t eat. You can’t sleep. There’s a strange fluttery feeling in your stomach. Your heart skips a beat when “you-know-who” appears. You can’t get her (or him) off your mind. Just to hear them say your name would send you into a blissful delirium!
You’re in love! (Or are you?)
As you go through your teen and early adult years, you need to know how satisfying, committed, life-long relationships develop. Songs. movies and music videos won’t enlighten you because they usually confuse true love with “infatuation”. How can you tell the difference?
There are definite signs of true love and symptoms of infatuation. Evaluate for yourself and see if you can tell the difference!
Infatuation is something we fall into, but true love is something we grow into.
Our society sees love as something that happens to you, not something you can control.
Our culture will say if you’re smitten by “Cupid’s arrow”, there’s nothing you can do. But is that really true? Or does that thinking take away responsibility from the individual? Real, lasting relationships take effort to cultivate and nurture. They’re not something we fall into. They grow over time.
So are you really in love? The first step in preparing for quality relationships in the future, is to know the difference between true love and mere infatuation.

True love, what an incredibly difficult thing to explain.
but, i'll go ahead and try to explain what it felt like for me.
It was freshman year, second semester, I had sat down in my 2nd block class, and I glanced at the door. The most beautiful girl walked through, and I got that warm, tingly feeling deep inside my stomach, mind you, I hadnt even talked to this girl yet, nor did I know anything of her.
She was involved, and we became friends. And everytime she would look at me, or everytime I thought of her, a smile would be forced across my face.
She was everything, that I had ever looked for.
Ive gotten over her, it took about a year. But to this day, everytime I see her, I get that strange feeling.
But when he/she is all you think about, and when that person talks to you, all you can see is them, and nothing else, and when you goto sleep, you think of them, and you smile when you see them. You know, that they are the one.

It gives you a feeling you cant explain. Its a feeling of hapiness and caring. Its a feeling that not even the best writers can describe fully.

When you care more about there feelings then your own........but this only applies to things like what TV show to watch or where to eat..... but only if this truly your choice, not because your trying to get him to like you.
