My mom is a teacher with the high school she needs them some short stories and simple quotes which will inspire one generation of students and equip them with the ruthless world that they would face soon

Short speeches are always good... and ones that have quotes the students can carry with them for life would be appropriate..

This is a really great site to get quotes from. I've never read any of the stories or poems though. Hope it helps! Usually if you just yahoo search the topic (like "quotes & short stories" or something) it'll give you a bunch of sites to look at.

There's probably one of those "Chicken Soup for The Soul" books for teachers. There's gotta be at least one short story in there that would be applicable.
