It sounds like you and your "partner" are the same sex? Some states are against gay couples adopting some aren't. I'm not sure which are. I live in NY and I know we accept gay couples that adopt. Depending on how you go about adopting, depends on how much money you'll spend. Whether or not if you want to adopt in our country or out of country. In any case, you'll need a lawyer. Private adoptions are less of a hassle I believe, but don't quote me on it. You're better off knowing someone who wants to give up their child for adoption, and going that route. The sooner you start the adoption process, the better. It could take months, if not acouple years. My husband and I were thinking about adopting a little girl (maybe 2 or 3 years old), but our house isn't big enough for one more child (we already have 3 boys) and we were told that when we were close to being ready to begin the process to let them know! You have to take adopting classes. Depending on how you go about the adoption process, sometimes the classes are free. I hope it works out for you. I wish you luck! There's a lot of children out there that need a healthy, happy, safe family environment. Remember:lots of hugs and kisses!!

The way you state your question, would make it seem that you are same sex couple.

Unfortunately, George Bush is president, and we are in a conservative wave of nationalism. If I am correct about your being a same sex couple, then the only way you will be able to adopt will be to select a state that is not filled with bigotry and hate. Perhaps California or Massachusettes, or New York, one of those states you might be able to find an adoption.

The other alternative is to seek out private adoptions - which will require a lawyer and money, and you may be able to find someone who is more interested in their child be adopted by a loving couple, rather than whether they are straight, conservative, or Republican.

Good luck. There are lots of children that need a loving family.

Go to a nice looking adoption center. It usually means easy to get the kid :D. Make sure you check the kid out. Besides adoption is easier then having swollen ankles and throwing up for 9 months then trying to puch something the size of a watermelon out of a hole the size of a lemon lol.

That is a wonderful idea for more than one reason. A child is capable for identifying itself with a stranger and become attached with him. A child's love is most satisfying for it comes with no strings attached. It is a bond with no inhibition and transports you to your own state of infancy. Pleasure in watching a child grow, with its pranks, is as much absorbing as in begetting your own child. Besides, you serve a social cause. You take care of an orphaned child. As the young blossoms into life, which, but for your taking over its responsibility, would have been reduced to a state of destitute and orphaned, will elevate your sense of worth.
