One kitten is ok if you have enough time for him. Two kittens will be best so that they can play with each other.
BTW, 8 weeks is slightly too young to be separated from hsi mum and siblings. Best age for a kitten to leave the family is 12 weeks as they will have learned how to groom themselves, proper cat behaviour and use the litter tray.

I think it depends on the cat and on how much time humans spend with it. Kittens will always welcome another cat as a playmate, but older cats might resent a new intruder, especially of the same sex. In my experience, older neutered males just adore young female kittens.
If your kitten seems shy and not paricularly out-going, then he might love another kitten to snuggle up and who can comfort him. But I do think the new one should be a female. (Remember to get them spayed and neutered when they are old enough though, or you could end up with a whole lot more!)

The very best toy for any kitten is another kitten!!! They are wonderful to watch, and great fun; your cat will have a companion when youre out, and a friend for life. Do It; you dont know what youre missing!!!!

We had 2 Cats when we started, they seemed to spend ALL the time they could together, when they got older, they started attaching to us, When we got another kitten about 2 years later, they nurtured her like their own, and they still love being around each other and us. 2 Cats can be a hassle at a time, but it normally helps both them, and you :D

I had my first cat for four months before I brought a kitten home and she was never happier. It took her awhile to get used to the new kitty but soon they became best friends and now will walk up to one another, throw a paw around their shoulders and lick the top of the others head. Come on, it doesnt get more adorable than that! Keep in mind the litter box fills up twice as fast, the sofa gets covered in kitty hair twice as fast, etc. Good luck and enjoy your little fluffy friend!

I have just one and because I do she is super affectionate and I have her trained to like a dog to fetch, come and other tricks. I think if I had more than 1 she wouldn't be like this.
It depends how much time you can spend with the kittens. If you can spend plenty of time, one is fine. If you are out a lot, two will keep each other company.

2 Kittens are better than one - it's chaotic, it's fun and they delight in each others company. My two are 10 years old now and are stil chasing each other around the house like a pair of infants. If you can afford it and you've a mind for it, then get him a soul mate. This poor little mite has suddenly found himself alone in the land of the giants away from his mother, his brothers and sisters... He's bound to feeling afraid. Given time and lashings of affection he will grow out of it, but are you always there for him?

i had a kitten and she was very scared and always in hiding so i thought that maybe she needed a friend. at first there was rerritorial issues but then they got along great but i had to have two litter boxes because one would not let the other use it and they had to have seperate bowls thwn when the older one went into heat they fought the whole time. so for me it was like having two more kids

Have two kittens at once. They will keep each other company. It is much easier to play a game if you have someone with you.
If there are two together it is much easier for them to learn how a cat behaves.
