If you're otherwise healthy (phisically), go to a hospital ward for terminally ill people, visit those in paliative care, and thank the universe that you're healthy.

Do something kind for others. That'll lift your emotional burden by taking the focus away from your own problems or traumas.

Apart from that, do what Tony Robbins says:

1. How would you position your body if you were not depressed? Work it out, and do it.

2. Focus on something positive. Force yourself to be positive, and eventually, you won't be depressed.

Simplistic? Maybe... but it does work.

You can choose to go the long way, though. Rely on chemicals, pay lots of shrinks, and remain the same or confused... Or you can try Robbins simple technique consistently.

I myself had some struggle with depression in my life, i would be happy and things were great and then all of the sudden i would feel depressed for no reason at all, then happy again. It took a toll on my relationship at the time and my girlfriend begged me to see a doctor. I have now been on Prozac for over 5 years and it has been a life saver for sure. But some people require different medication so you may have to see a doctor to find out what works for you.

I suggest Lexapro. Some of the other drugs have been proven to make you suicidal. Funny how that is. Lexapro makes you feel good but in a combination with therapy. of course.

Everyone responds to medications differently. What may work well for one person may be terrible for another.
