Oh, so you Atheists are trying to push your believes on Christians! You tell us that we are stupid, and brainwashed. That we make excuses for staying so ignorant. The SAME EXACT thing you say Christians do to other people. The EXACT SAME thing you hate the most! WOW, you really know how to make a point... (but because you are so intellectually superior, that was probably your point all along!)

Is your hope that all 2 billion Christians wake up tommorrow and say "What the h*ll was I thinking??? Where is that fireplace so I can burn my Bible?"
Finally, why do you try to insult us when answering questions about Christianity? It just adds fuel to the fire (no pun intended) You pepper your answers with insults and put downs. WHY? Can you not answer a question without reverting to the 2nd grade? (see that wasn't very nice, nor was it called for)

WOW, I just titled the question like that as an attention grabber. If you read any of my other questions you can see that I am not as angry as this questions sounds. It must be past your bedtimes because I am hearing some definte anger in a few of the responses that I am getting! I apologize about the "tone" of the question, it is just a light hearted debate about opposing view points. I did re-read my question and it does sound like a "tantrum" but it's not.
~~Sorry :)

Well, I thought that it went understood that I didn't mean all. It just goes to show how some people can take one thing, avoid the truth/answer and focus on what was "not"said. In other words the phrase "some atheists" is implied. WOW people, I mean WOW.

Hypocrite? Maybe. But I don't care to convert anyone. I just want them to stop trying to convert me. If destorying your faith is the only way to achive this, then I have no problem destorying your faith.

Do I hope christians finally wake up? Yes, I would not want anyone to remain ignorant their entire life.

Why do I insult you? Because when I make a civil and polite post christians view it as a weakness in my resolve. To eliminate this thought I make it clear that I think your religion is crap.

Can I answer a question without reverting to the 2nd grade? I have to start at a point that most christians can understand. 2nd grad seems to be their level of education.

Contrary to what you think, true atheists do not try to push atheism on you. They simply pity you weakminded people who have to rely on others to tell them what is right and what is wrong. (It would not be so bad if "they" are always right. Half the time they are dead wrong!) You obviously have no mind of your own. Do you honestly believe in every church doctrine? How about the Catholic church's stand on birth control? It makes me laugh whenever I think of the Pope used to belong to the Wermacht. Not only did he not have enough moral courage to fight the Nazis; he joined them because it was convenient. Would any sane, free thinker follow the lead of a man like this?
How much do you know about the Bible? I would bet money that you only read chapters directed by people from the church. If you read the entire Old Testament, you would be an Atheist. If the Old Testament were to be made into a moive, it would have to be XXX rated. How about Lot's daughter took turns to have sex with their father? Did that turn you on? I dont know about you, but I found that to be repulsive, but then it is a bit entertaining.

I am an atheist. Your question generalizes just like so many other questions generalize; it is a common occurrence. What anyone chooses to believe is their business not mine. We all have personal freedom when it comes to that. I do not take a swipe at the practitioner of another belief system. If asked I will say why I myself do not believe but I will never put down an individual in doing so. Live and let live.

It seems like anytime there are two sides to an issue on an internet site both sides resort to second grade mentality schoolyard taunts.

Isn't your heading just another example?

Since you added additional details I will too. I think many times on the internet people choose their words to strongly show their argument and assume the readers pick up on their thoughts; when in actuality leaving out qualifying words like "some" make them come across as just another example of the problem.

And by the way any point I'm trying to make applies to many of the people on here whether they're bashing NASCAR or F1 or atheists or Christians etc..

Yeah...atheists pepper their answers with insults and put downs. Your question calls all atheists "Hypocrites."

While I am an atheist, I do not suppose to speak on behalf of all atheists. I make no effort to push any of my beliefs on anyone. If a question is asked, as this one has been, I offer my personal opinion. I make no effort to claim that everyone should think as I do.

I make no effort to insult Christians in general. Honestly, I wish that people who call themselves Christians would truly act as they claim they should. Since the government of the US supports the rights of every American to "freedom of religion," who am I to tell anyone what they can or cannot believe as part of their religion.

And yet, there are religious groups who do just that. Some denounce any religion, even other sects of Christianity, which is not their own. Some stand on the street, yelling such denouncements at anyone who passes by. Some go door to door, in clear violation of my rights to "freedom of religion." Face it, I know how to find a church if I felt like going, and don't need two little old ladies to tell me to go to church or go to hell.

Usually, I find myself referring (ironically) the the Christian bible to prove my points. In this case, I'll go with this one. Most Christians claim to know it, but rarely use it.

"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."

i uphold your belief system, even tho i am a pagan. i think there are many paths to the same goal. however, calling anyone other than a christian a hypocrite is, well, a little like calling the kettle black. so much bloodshed has happened in the name of christ it is abhorant. the crusades, the salem witch trials (most of which suffered WERE christians) the day to day proselitizing and belief that somehow your belief is the only way. i would call that hypocrisy at the highest level.

I'm afraid hypocrisy is part of being a human, whether you're a christian, atheist or whatever. Personally, I'm agnostic leaning towards the scientific side of things...no, that doesn't make me a scientologist...but the Bible makes no mention whatsoever of dinosaurs, which are historical fact.

Your beliefs are wrong. That's all there is to it. That's the reason you shouldn't push them on others, and the reason atheists get so frustrated that they stoop to insults. The case is clear cut. There is NOT evidence for God, or any other supernatural belief, and there IS evidence for a scientific explanation of why we're here. Stop being so whiny

I would respond rationally, but that toddler-esque tirade of yours is hardly worth a reponse at all.

So now you've become a hypocrite by calling people hypocrites who insult Christians for being mindless hypocrites. Wow, say that really fast three times.

Well it seems to me that christians are the ones pushing their faith onto non-believers with "i'll pray for you"
Second you are judging all Atheists on the based of one or two people. Would you like it if I judged all christians on the bases of two or three people? Of course you would not.

Also it sounds like you are just throwing a hissy fit like a little child
