Regardless of you religious denomination "GOD" can be considered the fountain head of all life and energy in the universe.
But it is fairly obvious that part of the grand plan is self expression on many levels.
And so I think it does not pay to think that God is initiating everything as that would negate the whole purpose for creation..... IE Free expression and free will.
It may very well be part of the development of the human species at this point in time is trending towards longer lifespans.... but I think there have been enough physical factors like better hygiene and medicine which have had a larger effect.
But as part of evolution is in fact adapting the situations that we find our selves in as a species.... this probably feeds back into the equation IE We might tend to live longer anyway as a result of humanity adapting with-in a framework where by longer lifespans are possible (even if "artificial" factors are in play.)
So if you have to force me to give you a yes or no answer I would have to say that most of the advancement in the longevity of individuals in modern society is attributable to physical factors.... But since god is every thing he would be present equally in every physical factor as much as he would be in everything else.
But another way to look at it is like this.... your question is like asking a scientist (who does not believe in god) "Do atoms help me be myself?" And the answer is of course: your whole body and every thing in it is made of atoms.... the same can be said of god...... every atom and even space it self is composed of "particles of God" .... in a way....

It's called Science, but personally I have been watching some of the oldest illnesses becoming immune to the treatments that were invented to prevent them. I feel its only a matter of time before a new disease rises up that we cannot stop. Then nature will take its course and redo its old mistakes of letting the human race run rampant over this world and sicken the entire planet. Normally I do not speak ill of my fellow human, but as a Druid my allegiance lies with nature first and foremost. Nature is always one step ahead of us, it always will be, we just need to be more carefull with our own actions, or nature will turn against us and return our race to the dirt and soil from which we grew.

Actually, our ancestors lived much, much longer than us. We have shorter life spans if you look at the history of humanity. The Bible and Qur'an verify this. For example, Noah lived 950 years! Adam also lived well over 900 years, I believe.

Life expectancies have increased due to medical advances. If you still insist on God, then consider it the God-given intelligence to implement such advances.

I can only assume the previous poster who said mankind used to live longer was referring to the "beget-a-thon" in the Old Testament. Not considered valid medical data. Sorry.

Isaiah in 65-19-20, he prophesied that a child shall die 100 years old on the latter days, here is the quote:"19And I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people: and the voice of weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying. 20There shall be no more thence an infant of days, nor an old man that hath not filled his days: for the child shall die an hundred years old; but the sinner being an hundred years old shall be accursed.

No. people lived far longer in days of old than we live.
God gave us about 70 years to live in the bible and it seems as though that's about how long we average now.

In a way I guess so. He gave us the brainpower to discover ways to combat common diseases enabling us to live longer and in better health.

Yes. Except God doesn't exist. God has shaped our society, and continues to hinder medical and scientific advancement.

It's vice versa. We have pollutions, smog and other unhealthy environmental situations affecting us on a daily basis that causes us to die quicker regardless of an alternative healthy lifestyle.
